My Planet and Me Press release / International

Sharing your thoughts inspires other to act green May 9th, 2011 / Worldwide – My Planet and Me campaign announces its first Blog-a-thon, themed Forest Biodiversity. My Planet and Me, a multimedia project launched earlier this month, is designed to interact with people through social networks, asking them to share their acts of green – everyday small things they do that benefit our environment (recycling, opting for a low carbon travel, tree planting, etc). Inspired and supported by the Earth Day Network, the largest environmental network in the world, and by their Billion Acts of Green campaign, My Planet and Me focuses on countries in the Central, Eastern an South East Europe. The idea is simple – share your act of green and inspire others to do the same. At the end of the project, all received photos, video clips and stories will be combined into a multimedia e-book (available also in an iPad format) – a great way to present positive action across 30 countries, and a great way for environmentally responsible companies and organizations to get involved in the project. “Living green is going mainstream.” could certainly be one of the taglines of the My Plant and Me project.

My Planet and Me will work closely with bloggers, designers, artists, photographs and videographers to reach and inspire as many people as possible to do their act of green and share it with the rest of the world. This month, as we approach the International Biodiversity Day (May 22), My Planet and Me launches its first blog-a-thon, themed Forest Biodiversity. Everyone is invited to share their texts and blogs on the subject, from simple stories, like what was your favourite forest when you were a child, to citizens initiatives, like the city of Belgrade has with its Zvezdara forest and initiative to protect it and preserve it. As an incentive for all those who will share their blogs and stories with us, My Planet and Me is giving away 100 cotton totes during this blog-a-thon. Those who cannot find their way with words have an option to plant a tree instead and share the photo with us. Stories, blog links and/or photos should be emailed to mystory@myplanetand.me by May 22 2011, and the cotton tote winners will be announced on project’s Facebook page the following week.
