Pull Quote white on black theme ties with the style of ‘Rock Sound’, this gives us a sense of house style; the pull quote ties in with the lead image. “This next album will show a lot of people what this band is made of..” is a strong quote from Oli Sykes, suggesting the band is going to change their style or music.

Tone and Register the descriptive language used by the journalist to appeal to the target audience, words such as ‘stark antithesis’. ‘A saintly, serene creature helplessly caught in the crossfire or a drunken devil who becomes a monster or madman when infused with a substance?’ is a question which the journalist asks the reader; it could also relate to the ‘saint or sinner’ idea.

Copy the words written by the journalist; body copy is the main text. Both feature in -page spread.

Double-page spread analysis, page 4. The main image of this double-page spread relates inevitably to the target audience, the body position and gesture could be seen as a sign of youth and attitude. The caption which the journalist has published as ‘drop dead’ by Oli Sykes can also be seen as a connection of youth and a common phrase used within the target audience. The WOB ‘white on black’ also known as reversed out type, effect used defines the weight of the font. ‘Rock Sound’ may have used dark colours in resemblance to the House Style of the magazine, target audience and bands featured. There are many direct quotes used by the journalist to interest the reader more; fans want to find out the artist’s own opinion about current affairs. Personally I think the artist would agree with the design and layout of the magazine as it features many direct quotes and characteristics which the target audience are attracted to by the magazine, and the band.
