Aims: Talking about past finished actions.

I would apply a video from this site that shows a man (Mel Gibson) doing a series of fun activities, which afterwards will be described in the past. This is the handout to be used in this lesson.

Target age: Teens Level: Pre-intermediate Materials: computers with an Internet connection Aims: Practise vocabulary connected to Adjective and adverb opposites, Crime and Food.

After finishing the first three units from the book Adventures, my students and I would go to the computer room and complete the crosswords on these units. I would comprise these three units in one lesson because I imagine that the computer room would not be available so often so as to practise vocabulary so easily.

EDITORIAL - A case for TELL For over three decades, Argentinian language teachers (in particular, those teaching foreign languages) have been concerned about the role of technology in their work. It may seem hard to believe it was only about thirty years ago that massive access to tapes seemed to be the issue. Since then, developments have been so varied that it is hard to keep track of new developments: photocopies, cassettes, videotapes, CDs, DVDs, word processors, ICT, the Web 2.0, IWB, elearning, m-learning…, Many hours and papers have been devoted to whether or not teachers should struggle for, accept or reject each of these in their teaching… And yet, many of us today are likely to still feel overwhelmed by the problem.

That is why our magazine is devoted to creating a common arena for collaboration and the sharing of experiences in this field. Our staff do not believe they have any definitive answers; instead, they are just humble enough to explore new options and share their learning. They are simply committed adventurers walking along new paths, and “writing back home” to let us all know what new parts of the universe may hold for us all. We hope you enjoy sharing their explorations, and perhaps even feel tempted to join them in the near future.

And, if you do venture into unexplored lands, waters, or even skies, let us hear from you too!

For, far from getting “tamed” and becoming “invisible”, the “monster” seems to grow by the hour, turning stronger and less predictable with each new gadget that hits the market. So much so that we do not any longer talk of “technology”, but of “technologies”, like a modern Hydra with countless heads…What is undeniable is that there is no way to avoid taking sides about the matter. Technologies have become an integral part of 21st century societies, and have pervaded every single aspect of our ordinary lives. It is time educators stopped doubting that ignoring the question places us on the side of exclusion, and simply sentences our students to being left behind in this revolutionized, networked world. We also know technologies will not just work the miracle, and automatically turn everyone into the ideal learner, wise and always ready to “absorb new knowledge”. If we have discovered some truth during the last decades: this is it: technologies can simply enhance learning that is already taking place, and only if used coherently to meet teaching-learning aims.

Musical Lessons Do you wish to make your lessons more fun? This is the site for you. You can feel as a genuine DJ with this site! Blip is an Internet radio played, in this occasion, by Gladys Baya. She recommends a varied repertoire of songs, together with handouts to work with them in class. They have diverse kinds of tasks from matching lyrics lines to TPR activities.

By simply looking at the home page, you can see the name of different songs, authors, topics you can deal with and levels. Also, you can listen to the songs online to decide which ones you like and even download them. However, the site does not always work properly –that is, sometimes the songs are not available - but the rest works perfectly.

Anyway, you can find the songs somewhere else and still get great ideas from this site.

Downloading handouts and music is very easy, the only requirement is a having a Facebook or a Scribd account. Moreover, you can subscribe and get alerts each time a new song is added.

Another advantage is that you can create your account on this site and start storing your own selection of songs and handouts. You could then simply add what you like from Ms Baya’s station or anyone else’s to your own with just a click.

So prepare your students to enjoy more musical lessons!

Site review on: Books Should Be Free – for Teens and Adults By: Hebe Olivieri

This website contains material for a range of users, from the general public to students, academics and teachers as well. It includes a variety of free e-books which are divided into different genres. Moreover, this website includes several options to download an audiobook, for instance MP4 format, MP· files for each chapter in one zip file and a complete download in iTunes under podcasts.

As teachers, it will be great to implement this tool in our classroom. How can we do this? Here go sime tips to take into account: You should select a book according to: 1. The age of your group 2. The interests of your students 3. The language and vocabulary 4. The genre of the book (this cannot be changed later. You should select the most suitable category) 5. The audio (if the book is read dramatically, with readers voicing the different characters) 6. The target learner. A classic of children’s literature, such as “The Adventures of Pinocchio”, can be especially motivating for young learners).

Summing up, I highly recommend this site if you want to improve your lessons in a funny way. Teachers will enhance language learning as well as speaking. I strongly believe that teachers and students will get great profit from this site.
