DENPASAR - Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bali Province recorded that during the first half of 2011 the visit of Australian tourists reached 348,489 people. Such amount increased by 25.33 percent if compared to the same period in the previous year reaching 278,049 people. Head of BPS Bali, Gede Suarsa, said in Denpasar on Tuesday (Aug 2) that Australia ranked first in the top ten countries supplying tourists to the Island of the Gods. Most of them entered Bali through the Ngurah Rai Airport. “Australian people are getting more excited to travel to Bali because they regard this region as their ‘second home’ aside from the flight mileage is not so far as well as the economy of the kangaroo country has been getting better and the security situation of Bali is getting more stable,” he said. He said the kangaroo country

was able to contribute 26.73 percent of the total foreign tourists to Bali amounting to 1.30 million people during the six month period in January-June 2011. The condition increased by 10.46 percent over the same period in the previous year that only reached 1.18 million tourists. “During the period of 2010, the Australian society visiting Bali increased by 43.67 percent or reached 641,588 tourists, compared to the previous year was recorded to reach 446,570 tourists,” he observed.
