Floral Topiary by Kim Watson Create a striking topiary for your room using your flower collection. With this bright project, your flowers are at your fingertips whenever you’re ready to accent your pages. To create your own topiary, use small straight pins to attach your assortment of floral embellishments to a large foam ball. Once your ball is covered with flowers, insert a dowel for your stem, and put that stem in a colorful pot filled with something to keep your organized bloom upright, such as glass pebbles or rice.

Cork Dahlias
1. Die-cut paper Draw inspiration from the full-bodied dahlia and use loads of different shapes and textures to create a puffed flower accent for your next layout about your fabulous furry friend. Lightweight cork is a wonderful option for adding texture without bulk! When creating a dahlia-inspired accent, think about how you can incorporate circle patterns to help create the illusion of a dahlia’s tubular petals. For example, create a base for your dahlia with a billowy scalloped circle, die cut from a polka-dot patterned paper like the one Piradee Talvanna chose. Next, continue your circular theme by selecting flower dies with round shapes—either the whole flower or simply the petals—to create 2. Die-cut cork your textured layers.

#1 Draw Attention Using a Visual Triangle
Problem : The single floral accent seems
to be floating on the page, distracting the viewer’s attention from the photos, journaling, and other important page elements.

Solution : Add two more complementing flower accents and arrange all
the flowers in a triangle to draw the viewer’s eye around the page.
Why This Works : The eye naturally wants to connect to similar items on a page. You can draw your viewer’s eye to the heart of your story by placing elements in a triangle on your layout. Remember, when creating a visual triangle not all three elements need to be exactly the same—subtle differences create interest.
