JOB: DRIVERS RESPONSIBILITIES HEALTH, ROAD AND ENVIROMENTAL SAFETY WHILE IN SERVICE IN THE LOGISTICS SECTOR: KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICAL COMPENTENCY REQUIREMENTS ALL LICENCES AIMS 1. Make sure you are fit to drive, 2. Control the risks associated with carrying passengers, loads and animals, 3. Make routine checks of vehicle roadworthiness, 4. Make sure vehicle documents meets legal requirements, 5. Check the vehicle is fit for the journey, 6. Plan a journey. Objective 1: Awareness of the importance of physical and mental ability: a) Principles of healthy, b) Balanced eating, c) Effects of alcohol, d) Drugs or any other substance likely to affect behaviour, e) Symptoms, causes, f) Effects of fatigue and stress, g) Fundamental role of the basic work/rest cycle. Objective 2: Ability to prevent physical risks: a) Ergonomic principles; b) Movements and postures which pose a risk, c) Physical fitness, d) Handling exercises, e) Personal protection Objective 3: To make drivers aware of the risks of the road and of accidents at work: a) Types of accidents at work in the transport sector, b) Road accident statistics, c) Involvement of lorries/coaches, human, d) Material and financial consequences.

Objective 4: Ability to prevent criminality and trafficking in illegal immigrants: a) General information, implications for drivers, preventive measures, check list, b) Legislation on transport operator liability. Objective 5: Ability to assess emergency situations: a) Behaviour in an emergency situation: b) Assessment of the situation, c) Avoiding complications of an accident, d) Summoning assistance, e) Assisting casualties and giving first aid, f) Reaction in the event of fire, g) Evacuation of occupants of a lorry/bus passengers, h) Ensuring the safety of all passengers, i) Reaction in the event of aggression; j) Basic principles for the drafting of an accident report. Objective 6: Ability to adopt behaviour to help enhance the image of the company: a) Behaviour of the driver and company image: b) Importance for the company of the standard of service provided by the driver, c) The roles of the driver, d) People with whom the driver will be dealing, e) Vehicle maintenance, f) Work organisation, g) Commercial and financial effects of a dispute.
