Two arrested for raping 16 year old girl HAKEEM GBADAMOSI AKURE

T

he Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Ondo State have arrested two men for allegedly raping a 16 year old girl,even as the command is on the trail of four others still at large. Parading the suspects at the NSCDC State headquarters in Akure, the Public Relations Officer,PRO, Mr. Kayode Baloat Oluwatuyi area of the state capital According to him, the men did not only rape the girl but also filmed the act with their mobile phones. He however said two of the

six accused were arrested after a tip off and said they will soon be charged to court, stressing that efforts are on to apprehend four others now at large. He said: “Through intelligence report and tip-off, two of the suspects were arrested. And they have confessed to the crime. They gave her a mark and warned that she should not tell her parents what happened.” Narrating the ordeal, the girl said she was returning from school when three men grabbed and threatened her with axe and knives and even slashed her wrist as a way of initiating her into their cult. She revealed that they forced her to consume gin and cigarette

before moving her to another house where she was gang raped. Her words: “On that day, as I was coming back from school, I saw the men and wanted to run. One of them held me. They said I should come and join their cult but I refused. So, they dragged and raped me. “When I wanted to leave they held me back and said they have the video, and will show it to those in our school. “They covered my eyes and slashed my wrist while three of them took turn to rape me. When they took my blood, they said if I tell anyone, I will die”. She however appealed to the security agencies to bring the culprits to book, saying they

threatened to kill her if they regain freedom. “They said they will kill me, they should be sent to jail because if they are released they will kill me,” she lamented. Confirming the incident, one of the suspects, Banjo Olaseinde said he was a school drop-out and they all belonged to a secret cult known as “Blue Angel”. The other suspect, Wale Fadahunsi, a tailor said they have recruited some secondary school students into their cult. He said he dropped out of Owo Technical School, adding that the girl was raped because they asked her to join their cult and she refused.

Other corporate bodies behind the big event are Grand Oak, Pepsi, Promasidor, May and Baker, Friesland Campina Wamco and BG Water, Flourmills and prominent individuals. According to Chairman of the Planning Committee for JERDA party, Mr. John Ajayi, the response from corporate organisations demonstrate their belief in the welfare of children and journalists. He added: “This annual children party and get-together has become one of the ways we bond together as members of a united family and this year’s edition will not be an exception.” Top of the activities for the celebration slated for December 14 includes children’s Christmas Party which will start by 11:00 a.m. gift packs for kids, games, bouncing castle, quiz and dancing competition. This will be followed by visitation and donation of gift items to an orphanage home in Abeokuta, Ogun State. There also will be an adult dinner dance by 6:00 pm.

for his kindness and unique approach to issues. “We are appealing to all to be calm and see the passage of the Deji as the will of God. We are here to sympathise with you and let you know how we feel about his exit. His death came when we needed him most. His departure is a big blow on us because he left so untimely,” Oba Omowole lamented. They charged Akure indigenes to be united and ensure that the legacies of late Oba Adebiyi are sustained.

t was celebrations galore at Ikere-Ekiti when one of its illustrious sons was promoted to rank of Major General in the Nigerian Army, in a mood reminiscent of hosting a global fiesta. The newly promoted MajorGeneral Sunday Adedapo Adebayo, Commander, Nigerian Army Education Corps, was among the 27 Brigadiers-General recently promoted by the authorities. Ekiti State is known to produce fine gentlemen military officers in the like of former governor of the defunct Western Region, Gen. Adeyinka Adebayo, who also hails from Iyin-Ekiti.
