Il Torneo di Viareggio della Polo Beach Cup è un evento che comprende non solo un Torneo di alto livello di Polo, ma anche manifestazioni culturali, ricreative ed enogastronomiche di successo ad esso connesse. Si svolge sul litorale di Viareggio in Ottobre, periodo caratterizzato da un clima mite e soleggiato, che permette al pubblico di passare con piacere una giornata in spiaggia. Si scontrano sei squadre composte ognuna da tre giocatori, in un testa a testa di quattro partite più le finali, alla fine delle quali i vincitori verranno premiati dagli sponsor nella cerimonia di chiusura. Il Torneo dunque, unito alle correlate manifestazioni, è in grado di unire un pubblico di appassionati certamente di alto livello – trattasi infatti di uno sport di prestigio – ma ha la possibilità di diffondere tra il grande pubblico alcune discipline equestri che non sempre si arrivano a conoscere. The Viareggio tournament of the Polo Beach Cup is an event that does not include a high level Polo Tournament alone, but also recreational, cultural and gastronomic events. It will take place on the coast of Viareggio in October, a period characterised by a mild and sunny climate, which allows the audience to spend a day at the beach with pleasure. Six teams, each consisting of three players, will challenge each other in a head to head tournament with four matches plus the finals at the end of which the winners will be awarded by the sponsors in the closing ceremony. Therefore, the Tournament, combined to the related events, is able to attract an audience of top-notch enthusiasts – it is in fact a prestige sport – but it will also have the ability to spread the culture of some equestrian sports that are not commonly known to everyone among the general public. 1

Il gioco del Polo ha conosciuto una crescente diffusione in Toscana negli ultimi anni e grazie alla passione delle persone che lo praticavano in altre località, questa regione è diventata di riferimento nel panorama nazionale.
The equestrian tradition is already strong in the region, even in Versilia, where the culture of horses, “sons of the wind”, as D’Annunzio (Italian writer) liked to call them, is well entrenched. The game of polo has experienced a growing popularity in Tuscany in recent years and thanks to the passion of those who praticed this sport elsewhere, this region has become a reference point in Italy.
Due campi importanti sono situati a Monte Argentario e Punta Ala, inoltre ci sono molti campi privati in alcune ville e tenute di campagna, come quello di Villa a Sesta in Chianti. Negli ultimi 10 anni ci sono stati spettacolari tornei nella regione che hanno ospitato un numero sempre crescente di spettatori. Oggi, a 70 anni dalla sua apertura, il prestigioso stabilimento balneare “Principe di Piemonte” continua a far parlare di sé e apre le sue porte al grande spettacolo del Polo.

Eventuali giocatori stranieri dovranno risultare in regola per la propria Federazione d’appartenenza. - Il Comitato Organizzatore ospiterà i giocatori mettendo a disposizione una camera doppia da giovedì 3 a domenica 6 ottobre. - Ogni squadra avrà a disposizione box per cavalli, le cui profende saranno a carico del Comitato Organizzatore.
