INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE
International Undergraduate Students are students who are studying a course that leads to the award of a diploma, advanced diploma, associate degree or a bachelor degree (pass, honours or graduate entry), and do not fit any of the following descriptions; Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, diplomatic or consular representative of New Zealand, a member of the staff of such a representative or the spouse or dependent relative of such a representative, person entitled to stay in Australia, or to enter and stay in Australia, without limitation as to time and who resides in Australia during the semester.
INTERNATIONAL POSTGRADUATE
International Postgraduate Students are students who are studying a course that leads to the award of a graduate certificate, graduate diploma, masters degree or doctorate, and do not fit any of the following descriptions; Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, diplomatic or consular representative of New Zealand, a member of the staff of such a representative or the spouse or dependent relative of such a representative, person entitled to stay in Australia, or to enter and stay in Australia, without limitation as to time and who resides in Australia during the semester.
INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH
International Research Higher Degree Students are postgraduate students who are studying towards a Master of Philosophy (M Phil) or Doctorate (PhD) by research in a specific discipline. Research students fall in to a different category to postgraduate students who are studying for their degree by coursework.

The University of Newcastle offers a range of scholarships on a competitive basis to assist international research students to meet their tuition fees and also provide a living allowance during their candidature.

HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR FEES The fees listed are in Australian dollars (AUD). Tuition fees for courses are set according to their academic subject area. A student’s program fee may vary depending on their course selection. Each degree program requires the completion of a number of units. To accumulate the necessary units, students enrol in courses according to the degree requirements for each program. Each course has a unit value and this is ten (10) for most courses at the University of Newcastle. A normal full-time study load is 80 units in any year or 40 units per semester/trimester.
The tuition fees cover teaching costs only. The fees listed below also do not include international and domestic travel, accommodation and meals, books, living costs or Overseas Student Health Cover charges.

RESEARCH STUDENTS FEES.

The University of Newcastle offers a number of scholarships on a competitive basis to assist Research Higher Degree students meet their fees. There is an annual scholarship round for students, application for which close 31 August. There are also several other scholarship rounds throughout the year though applicants must be nominated by their supervisor to be eligible. PAY.MENT OPTIONS Once you accept your offer you will be required to pay a Deposit Fee to the University. This will be used as payment toward the cost of your tuition fees for your first semester of study with the University. This fee does not apply to those international students who study with GradSchool. com. Please visit the GradSchool website for details: www.gradschool.com.au/How-to-Apply Payment for subsequent terms of study are due once the student completes the enrolment process for that term and tuition fees have been calculated. Each term of study, you will receive a bill for the cost of your tuition fees. All bills issued by the University are electronic and can be viewed online. All fees must be paid in full and on time. Non-payment of tuition fees by the due date may result in the termination of a student’s enrolment.

Payment Plans are available to assist international students to pay tuition fees. Call into the Cashiers Office in the Hunter Hub prior to the due date on your bill if you would like to enquire about a Payment Plan.
