Laleham Lea Catholic Independent School Awarded Highest Possible Rating of ‘Excellent’ by Independent Schools’ Inspectorate
Laleham Lea School, in Purley, is delighted to announce that it was recently awarded the highest possible rating of ‘Excellent’ across Focused Compliance and Educational Quality Inspection including Academic Achievement following a full inspection from the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
The Inspection, which took place in February, reported that ‘The quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements is excellent’ and, ‘The quality of the pupils’ personal development is excellent’.
Following the Inspection process which included parental, student and staff surveys, staff and student interviews, as well as observations of lessons and daily life at the school, the inspectors reported that, ‘Pupils make excellent progress, achieving at levels in advance of expectations for their age and ability’, ‘Pupils are outstanding communicators’, ‘Pupils develop highly effective study skills (and) are highly enthusiastic learners’.
Along with excellent academic results and an impressive list of Senior School destinations and Scholarship Awards, Laleham Lea Catholic School is also known for and is proud of its pastoral care which was praised by the inspectors who commented that, ‘The quality of the pupils’ personal development is excellent’, ‘Pupils have high levels of self-understanding for their age and show notable resilience’, ‘Pupils show outstanding respect for each other and are highly inclusive’ and ‘Pupils develop good relationships and demonstrate excellent social skills’.
The Catholic life of the school was also recognised by the Inspection team who reported that, ‘Pupils show excellent development of their spiritual understanding in their everyday lives’.
Laleham Lea Head Teacher Ms Barry said, “I am delighted with the findings of the Inspection Report which validates the tremendous hard work of our students, Staff and Governors. We work alongside all our families and our whole community to provide an excellent education for each child in our school where children love to learn with their friends. EASTER ADVENTURES WITH THE NATIONAL TRUST IN LONDON
From getting active in the great outdoors, to spotting the signs of spring, and experiencing nature bursting into life at the places the National Trust cares for there are over 190 Easter trails to choose from across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. And of course, each National Trust Easter trail ends with a chocolate egg, or vegan and free from egg, made here in the UK using cocoa that’s responsibly sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms. National Trust Easter egg trails cost £3 per child, plus normal National Trust admission/free entry for National Trust members.
There are over 180 Easter trails to choose from across England, Wales and Northern Ireland and 5 in London. Most trails will take place over the bank holiday weekend, 7-10 April but please check before visiting.

Ham House and Garden, 1st – 16th April.
Follow in the footsteps of Elizabeth Murray, Duchess of Lauderdale, on this history themed trail at Ham House and Garden. Spot 10 themed stations as you wander around the Wilderness, kitchen garden, courtyard and north terrace. Get competitive with friends and family in traditional games including hoopla and wheelbarrow races and learn about Elizabeth's life in the 17th century. Finish your day in the Orangery Café for hot drinks, lunches or snacks.
How to visit: 10am-5pm, normal admission plus £3 per trail, includes a chocolate Rainforest Alliance Easter egg.
Getting there: Richmond (District Line) 1½ miles by footpath, 2 miles by road. Free parking, 400 yards away in the riverside car park at end of Ham Street (not National Trust).
Osterley Park and House, 1st – 16th April.
Hop along to the Easter trail at Osterley Park and House this spring and follow Bunny's rhyming trail around the garden and parkland. Take part in hopscotch, egg hoopla, word scrambles and a game of ‘pass the egg’ along the way. Put your pen to paper with some poetry writing or create a nest in the woodland Den Building zone. You may even catch the bluebells beginning to bloom across the Great Meadow and the Long Walk.
The Stables Café will be on hand with hot drinks, lunches and treats and a place to rest after your adventure.
How to visit: 10am to 5pm (last entry at 4pm) normal admission plus £3 per trail, includes a chocolate or vegan and free from Rainforest Alliance Easter egg.
Getting there: Osterley (Piccadilly Line) 1 mile. Nearest step-free access station: Hounslow East (Piccadilly Line) 1¾ miles. Parking: 400 yards up the main driveway. £7 for non-members, pay by phone.
Morden Hall Park, 5th - 10th April.
Revel in the feeling of being outdoors this spring at Morden Hall Park. Spot delicate white apple blossom and fluffy goslings hurrying after their parents, signs that warmer weather is on its way. Take part in the Easter adventure trail along the way with games and activities to get your heart racing and brain whirring.
The Potting Shed café will be on hand with tasty lunches, snacks and hot drinks. And before you leave, why not visit the National Trust’s only Garden Centre and pick some plants, seeds, garden supplies, with options to suit gardens and homes of all shapes and sizes.
How to visit: 10am-4pm each day, £3 per trail, includes a chocolate or vegan and free from Rainforest Alliance Easter egg. Parking charges apply after 1.5 hours to non-members. Getting there: Morden (Northern Line), then a 500 yard walk along Aberconway Road, or Wimbledon (District Line) then tram to Phipps Bridge or bus to Kenley Road.
Sutton House, 7th - 10th and 12th, 14th, 16th April.
Explore this historic mini manor house and take part in games along the way, with crafty and sporty challenges to keep little people entertained.
How to visit: 11am – 3pm, £3 per trail, includes a chocolate or vegan and free from Rainforest Alliance Easter egg. Getting there: Hackney Central (Overground), five minutes' walk.
Rainham Hall, 6th – 10th April.
The gardens of Rainham Hall are perfect for little legs to explore, with short walks to enjoy. Children will love running up and down twisty paths spotting activities on the Easter trail. Search for activities including an egg and spoon race, a wind chime forest and a giant twiggy nest.
How to visit: 11am – 3.30pm each day, £3 per trail, includes a chocolate or vegan and free from Rainforest Alliance Easter egg. Getting there: Rainham Station (c2c) 150 yards. The Garden is free to enter and open Tuesday- Saturdays from 11am-4pm.
