QUICK AND DIRTY PROTOTYPING IN PU FOAM

Sketches of visually interesting forms needed to be modeled for further understanding of user experience, including weight, grip length and orientation of the grip. Also looking for the posibility to make a monoform instead of a tool in two pieces.

09

PROTOTYPING

After making the monoshape, it was finished with ceveral layers of putty to make it smooth before finishing it with paint.

FINAL PROTOTYPE

Nice full shaped handles for a good grip.

A notch for extra grip. Nice big scoop area to play with sand or soft soil.

Well rounded edges so the children can’t hurt themselves.

RESEARCH The designer Matteo Thun and his creations/ products

MATTEO THUN Italian architect & designer His vision, he says, is not his but that of Ettore Sotsass (his teacher) and comes down to the fact that the designs must be one with nature. He will always use the aspects from his Memphis Group period in his work, being working with color, surface ... In 1982 he designed a series of white porcelain with bizarre shapes and cloudy motifs and teapots with unusual shapes. Materials used are ceramics, Murano glass, white porcelain. He has partnered with brands like Illy, Porsche, Alessi, Philips Electronics and Hugo Boss.
