Lazy Holiday Eats: Strawberry Chia Seed Jam

If you’ve been looking for a guilt-free way to enjoy jam (and a way to use those chia seeds that have been sitting in your pantry) then this is the recipe for you. Make this sweet, homemade treat and store it for up to a week (if it lasts that long!)

INGREDIENTS

• 1/2 kg strawberries

• 2 tablespoons chia seeds

• 3 tablespoons of honey (can be adjusted to preference)

METHOD

1. Heat a medium saucepan over medium heat and add the strawberries. Add the honey and place on the stove over medium heat. Once the berries start to fall apart, use a fork to break them up.

2. Stir continually as the mixture comes to a slow boil. Once you see some big bubbles break the surface, add the chia seeds. Switch to low heat and stir the mixture for 10 minutes then move the pan off the stove. Give the jam time to cool and set at room temperature then enjoy!

Optional: Blend the jam if you want it to have a smoother texture but if you prefer chunky jam then leave it as is.
