CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION WITH TEST SCORES

When applying to the university with an ACT or SAT score, the math subsection of the score will be used for placement in conjunction with general admission standards for the university. This ensures that students meet math readiness standards while building upon an academic foundation to continue with many of the required engineering courses.

We encourage you to talk with our recruitment team, schedule a visit, or attend an event to learn more.

Test Optional Admission Criteria

If you would like to apply without standardized test scores, we will admit test optional applicants who meet a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and general university admissions requirements. Due to the minimum math placement of college algebra for engineering, a math assessment is required prior to New Student Orientation in June. The ALEKS math placement exam, qualifying AP, IB, or dual enrollment courses and grades, or an ACT or SAT score are approved options for placement.

Even if you are admitted test optional, we encourage you to take the ACT or SAT for increased scholarship opportunities. Departmental scholarships for first-time freshmen offered by the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources require an ACT or SAT score to qualify.
