Big Win For Small Producer

Judges at the recent Sydney Royal Wine Show READ ONLINE have awarded local wine producer Boydell’s the top gong for Best Small Producer Wine of Show for its 2021 Boydell’s Reserve Chardonnay.

A relative newcomer to the wine game, Boydell’s was established by Jane and Daniel Maroulis in 2017, having purchased the stunning Boydell’s property in East Gresford in 2015. The Boydell’s property is thought to be the very first vineyard planted in the Hunter Valley when Welshman Charles Boydell settled it in 1826.

Hands-on when it comes to making their wine, Jane and Daniel entrust the final blend with renowned winemaker Liz Silkman, reigning Hunter Valley Winemaker of the Year and known to many as the ‘Chardonnay Queen.’

“We couldn’t be prouder of our young and small brand being named Best Small Producer Wine of Show, especially at Sydney Royal,” said Jane.

“We’re extremely grateful to have Liz as our winemaker. She not only shares the Boydell’s values, goals and uncompromising standards, but she treats our wines as she would hers.”

Far from mainstream, Boydell’s, with its quaint Cellar Door and Restaurant in the heart of historic Morpeth, aim to produce highquality, hand-crafted food and wine and compliment those with incredible experiences and events.

2021 Boydell’s Reserve Chardonnay RRP $45 is available at www.boydells.com.au and at Cellar Door, open Thursday to Sunday.
