Our Creative Learning programme brings people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds together through creativity and to build a sense of belonging. We encourage curiosity and ideas across artforms.

CANLEY PARADE PLAYING OUT

Playing Out is a collaborative project based in our local neighbourhood of Canley, designed to embed creativity into people’s lives and shape a new narrative. With a weekly programme of events, Playing Out brings people together. If you live in Canley and want to find out more, please email creativelearning@warwick.ac.uk.

OUT OF WHACK

OUT OF WHACK ELDERS’ DANCE CLASSES

Tue 4 Oct – Tue 6 Dec 6pm - 7.30pm

Out of Whack is an Elders Dance Company for people aged over 60 who share a love of contemporary dance. Join Dance Leader Molly Wright for weekly classes that explore different dance styles, create short performance pieces and work with guest choreographers. No previous experience necessary and new members are welcome.

WORKSHOP WEDNESDAYS

Wed 5 Oct – Wed 7 Dec 1.30pm – 4pm

Led by local artists, these weekly creative sessions explore a wide range of processes from stitch to sculpture, poetry to collage and more. With a focus on supporting wellbeing, they are an opportunity to take some time for ourselves to learn something new and connect with others.

MINI CREATIVES

Our weekly artist-led sessions offer a sensory, creative space for babies and toddlers to explore with their grownups. On Fridays join B’Opera for interactive performances and discover how we can all use rhythm, movement, sound, and our singing voices to bring a story to life.

Every Sunday, drop-in for creative workshops led by our artists-in-residence LYNNEBEC. Working across dance, theatre and performance, we invite you to come and spend time together as a family making, exploring and having fun!

SHORT COURSES

Our new Autumn short courses explore themes in our exhibition Radical Landscapes. Suitable for beginners, or those with some experience who want to extend their skills.

Each course £75, includes materials & refreshments. Ages 18+

REWRITING THE MAPS: POETRY OF PLACE

with Jane Commane Sat 15 Oct 10am – 4pm

Using outdoor and indoor spaces around Warwick Arts Centre, we’ll use poetry writing to express how we respond to place, considering memory and experiences, and how we exist in the landscape.

DRAWING - MARK MAKING IN NATURE

with Jessica Glover Sat 5 Nov 10am – 4pm

Taking inspiration from your surroundings and the outdoor areas on campus, this course introduces a range of mark making techniques and materials. Explore your own creative expression to create landscape drawings using pencils, inks, colours, and layers.

FLOWER BRICK MAKING IN CLAY

with Mark Essen Sat 26 Nov 10pm - 4pm

Build your own brick flower vase to take home and arrange wildflowers in. Using found and natural materials, you will decorate the surface of your piece, taking inspiration from outdoor spaces around Warwick Arts Centre.

INTRODUCTION TO REDUCTION LINOCUT PRINTMAKING

with Alix Almond Wed 2, 9, 16 Nov 6pm – 8.30pm

This joyful 3-week evening course introduces the reduction linocut technique. Learn a range of skills and build up the layers and colours of your image each week to create your very own limited-edition print.

INSTRUMENTAL

The Instrumental programme offers free tickets to schools, enabling young people to attend world class classical concerts, as well as attend free pre-performance workshops (in partnership with Coventry Music Hub). Available to school students in Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull who are studying music, learning an instrument, or have a passion for classical music, find out more details on our website.

SCULPTURE TRAIL

Wander through the University of Warwick Sculpture Park and discover amazing artworks across the entire campus. There’s three different routes, including one created by Westwood Academy students. Pick up a free map from Box Office or download from our website.
