Church of Ephesus The biggest of all ancient cities in Turkey at that time, Ephesus and its ruins could have taken at least a whole day to take in. It was spectacular! The Library of Celcus standing at the end of the main road into the city, next to the marketplace. The shops along the road where pharmacies, lawyers, and spas called home. And the 25,000 seat capacity ampitheatre. Truly amazing works of architecture to be seen throughout this ancient metropolis. In the book of Revelation, it was called the church that lost its first love even though they had endured in their faith. Paul writes in Rev 2:2-4: I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil...And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
