Rev. Thomas F . Qui nn And Rev. John s_ O'Connor Honored by Pope It would really seem that Our Holy Father, P ope Pius XI, is partial to the clergy w ho have pursued their co urses at St. Viator College. Only last week we were overjoyed to learn that two more of our old students will soo n be ra ised to the dignity of the Mon signori. The first is t he R ev. Thoma s F. Quinn, pastor of St. Sylvester Church, Chicago. The P ope has conferred this distinction upon Father Quinn for the r eal sacrifi ces that he a nd his pari sh have made in benefit of t he propagation of the Faith, a work th at is so dear to the heart of the reigning pontiff The parish too, has been heavi ly burdened in collecting money to pay for the construction work that has recently been don e on th~ ch urch. New marble a lta rs a nd other furniture ha ve been installed. To think t hat with t he work of this coMtruction, Father Quinn has h ad th e zeal and indus try to bring hi s parish to the front in mission work, causes us to stand in adm iration, a nd our warmes t co ngra tul ations go out to him and his parish. The recipie nt of the second honor ~ ti t he Rev. Jo hn S. O'Connor, pastor of the Church of the Hol y N ame of Jesus, Fort Worth, Texas. The hcr~or comes to him through the requ est of t he Rt. Rev. Patri ck Lynch, V. D. , Bi shop of Dallas, w ho is a lso ar. Alumnus of St. Viator College . At the present writing the date of th e in ves t iture is not definitely known. It pleases us particularly that the first recogn ibion of t hi s honor was g iven by :Mons ignor-designate O'ConCopyright l.Avtccha Photo nor to hi s Alma Ma.ter. The t elegram which he sent to us read as follows: " Have jus t received word that I ha ve been r aised to the dign ity of a Mons ignor. First r ecognition and thanks to m y Alma Mater ." The Viatorian is g lad to have this opportu nity of cong r atulating both Mons ignor O'Connor and Mons ignor Quinn in beha lf of the students, Viator, for, with the exce ption of His f ac ulty, and t he alumni of St .
