THEME AND DETAILS: Simplicity

Can the wind be part of a wedding theme?Because it certainly played a big part in thiswedding by injecting drama into the detailsof the day. Look at the bride’s gorgeouslywindswept hair!

Keeping the decorative elements simple, thisbridal couple allowed Santorini to shine as theperfect backdrop. They chose simple and leafyferns, leaves and shrubs to go with the whiteflowers, while the gilded furniture, utensilsand vases complemented the lightness of thedécor by grounding the wedding amidst itsbreathtaking surroundings.

VENUE: Rocabella, Santorini

The best thing about destination weddings is that they double up as the perfect holiday for your guests and wedding party. It becomes a wedding holiday party, and what better place than a luxury resort overlooking the Mediterranean Sea?

Kicking off the holiday with cocktails and amazing sunset views at the Tango cocktail bar at Fira, the bridal couple had a treat in store for their guests. The day before their wedding, everyone enjoyed a full day of sailing on a catamaran, beach hopping, cliff jumping, and dancing. Indeed, destination weddings and holidays are the perfect package deal!

CEREMONY

Accompanied by her parents, the bride walked down the aisle towards her dapper groom, who was just as excited to exchange vows in front of their loved ones. Before a group of 80 to 100 people, the newlyweds said ‘I do’ in a beautiful ceremony that featured the most magnificent views. It was equal parts dramatic, romantic and classic.

“We chose Rocabella because it offered a classic Santorini backdrop, but also had the space to accommodate the number of guests we had,” said Danielle. “The majority of venues in Santorini cater to much smaller weddings, believe it or not!”

Seeing Jay at the altar as I walked down the aisle with my parents was my favourite moment of the ceremony.

RECEPTION

When it came to celebrating their union, the bride and groom kept it simple, just like their wedding ceremony décor. Filled with greenery and white flowers, their reception saw the happy couple receiving their guests’ toasts and well wishes beneath a beautiful evening sky. As the sun began to set, everyone put on their dancing shoes and partied the night away.
