2022 Forecast: Showers of Creativity

Bridal showers used to happen at home, but modern brides are reimagining how things are done. Instead of cookie-cutter events with finger sandwiches and DIY mimosa bars (hey, we love these too), wedding parties are focused on creating more robust experiences for their guests. It’s not just about showering the bride-to-be with gifts. It’s also about making fun memories.

For an unforgettable bridal shower experience, we recommend fewer games and more group activities that everyone can enjoy. We’re seeing more floral arrangement classes, cocktail making classes, cake decorating and creative desserts like mini pies and ice cream sundae bars. The trick is to start planning early and use your venue as a jumping off point for the festivities.

Owned and operated by wife and husband duo Katie and Kyle Winkelman, this dreamy little spot is nestled inside the Carnahan’s historic Kaffenberger Building in downtown Red Bud, Illinois. Also occupied by Market on Main, the building dates back to 1890 and is full of original character.

Wrapped in adorable décor, Sling ‘N Scoops is most famous for their imaginative artisan ice cream flavors, creamy recipe and a signature ice cream sundae bar your guests will talk about for years to come. You have to try the brownie batter chunk! There’s plenty of room for 60 shower guests and the space is ideal for hosting creative group activities like floral arrangement classes.

Celebrating Life Cake Boutique

13877 Manchester Road Ballwin, MO

A chic oasis of pastel surroundings, Celebrating Life Cake Boutique is the perfect place to gather the gals for a shower. Light, cheerful, French-inspired décor make this shop one of a kind. Family-owned since 2009, this bakery is known for their beautifully decorated cakes and confections.

Altogether, the space can accommodate 75-100 shower guests for unforgettable options like group cupcake decorating and signature cocktail bars. For smaller guest lists, they also offer tea parties with dainty floral china, cake pop classes and more. They can even set up spa days on-site with classic treatments like facials, chair massages, hand and foot therapy and makeup application.

The rustic design of the banquet room at Tompkins Riverside makes it easy to dress up or down for shower events for up to 100 guests. The food is spectacular and they have flexible menu options for small bites and customizable hors d’oeuvres. For a special touch, consider reserving a chef-led cooking demo or charcuterie board assembly.
