Dear Readers,

I know I am not the only one excited to say farewell to 2021. It has been a year like no other. Although we are not quite “back to normal,” there is undoubtedly more hope in the air these days. During times of great strife, it is so important to try and stay positive. After all, with hard times, comes growth and change. We all know the pandemic has wreaked havoc on the economy and has caused illness for so many.

Now more than ever, we must create some positivity in our lives. Maybe it’s practicing a random act of kindness for a friend, or supporting a small business. I know I am very much looking forward to what the New Year has in store. The month of February is American Heart Month. Let’s try and raise some awareness about the importance of heart health and urge our friends and loved ones to prevent heart disease. Did you know that 47% of all Americans have at least 1 in 3 key risk factors for heart disease? These days, when it comes to factors, we cannot control, we must do just that! Live a healthy lifestyle and keep your blood pressure and cholesterol levels normal.

Also, in the month of February, we celebrate Valentine’s Day. Send someone you love some red roses, or better yet some chocolate. Did you know that dark chocolate is packed with antioxidants and can improve brain function?
