editor’s note What a summer. Here in Australia, our summer holidays start before Christmas and continue just after we have celebrated Australia Day on January 26, the climax of two months of long days in the sun and easy nights leaning into the evening breeze, eating Frosty Fruits and talking, because there is no good television in summer anyway. Just another bonus in my book! The Sunshine Coast does not disappoint in summer, let me tell you. Before Christmas my son and I enrolled in surf lessons, which was a game changer. Trips to the beach just got real.

In light of the positively dreamy summer my little family has enjoyed, I have given you the best possible depiction of summery goodness in the form of our front cover. Overlooking the Maroochy River, a ceremony with a true sense of occasion takes place on the decking. Australian native flowers adorn the aisle chairs and small arrangements in jars sit atop cut logs. The aisle leads to the spectacular floral arbour, set to frame the couple as they say their vows.
