Simple Truths: Stuck On Stop

Dedication Not one to waste time, I’ve tried to imitate two men who can squeeze more out of a day than a circus can get clowns from a Volkswagen. The first may make for an odd dedication, but I owe a debt to my ex-husband, Norm Hitzges. Norm broadcast the first major-market, morning-drive sports talk show in America. At the same time, he authored three bestselling books, traveled the nation announcing baseball on ESPN, and hosted TV programs for professional basketball, football, hockey, and soccer, as well as for horse racing, poker, boxing, and college football. He even broadcast the results of the International Grape Seed-Spitting competition. In addition, he was a professional speaker, made public appearances, and worked in the yard. I can still hear him cheerfully prod, “We’ve got five minutes. Let’s get that done!” I tackle more projects than I ever dreamed possible due to his influence. My father, Dr. Haddon William Robinson, began preaching when he was a small boy. His congregation consisted of his cat, Topsy. 4
