- Malcolm XIn the 1990’s and right up to the early 2000’s, older generations of Qatari parents would send their children overseas to reputed schools in the United Kingdom in pursuit of high quality education.
These young leaders, would return back to Qatar and lead Qatar into the forward thinking, prosperous, trend setting nation it is today.
Was one such visionary who was passionate about creating distinguished educational pathways in Qatar. Thereby making opportunity and access available to young people in the country. Importantly, he was keen to strike the right balance between education and culture so that future generations would benefit from quality education without losing connection to their traditional culture and values.
He reached out to Sherborne which is one of Britain’s oldest and most distinguished places of learning founded under Royal charter in 1550.
Members of the Qatari Royal Family, including the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani , are alumni of Sherborne UK. Sheikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Thani also sent his sons to the International College and to Sherborne School, UK.
They were impressed with the ethos, quality of education and learning environment of Sherborne UK which played a pivotal role in molding the personality of their children.
