2011 has been an exceptional year! Bull sales have been extremely strong, fat cattle prices are back to where they were before BSE and the demand for outstanding foundation females has increased producer’s profitability and raised the optimism within the beef industry. The global demand for beef, quality genetics and beef cattle has also shown an incredible increase, with new emerging markets such as China, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Eastern Europe making significant investments and efforts to increase their own beef production and quality by using higher quality genetics and better management practices. None of these successes would have been possible without the Canadian producer who is known worldwide for their ability to provide both strength and balance.

Global demand for Canadian Hereford genetics is at an all-time high, and will only increase as Canadian genetics take center stage in 2012 as we host the World Hereford Conference. Renewed interest in high quality, balanced genetics was seen across the board this past year, with breeders looking to meet international market demands by producing more efficient and higher quality beef animals.
