Meet the Bourne's

C hristopher A. Bourne (known affectionately as 'Pastor Chris') is Second Baptist Church of Monrovia’s co-Pastor. Pastor Chris’ bold, uncompromising teaching of God’s word, has challenged men and women to give their hearts to the Lord, become better servants of God, and to positively impact their home, their community and ultimately their world.

Pastor Chris has received degrees from Citrus College in Glendora and graduated with honors from Vanguard University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Religion (with emphasis in Ministry and Leadership). With his vision and commitment to further the Gospel, Pastor Chris, has taught and served in a variety of strategic leadership positions and as an adjunct professor at The Southern California School of Ministry. Pastor Chris served as the Executive Director of Bethlehem Community Development Center, which services youth in education, empowerment, career and shelter. He also served as the Chairman of the Associated Churches of Christ Holiness Board of Elders and on the executive board of the Clergy Community Coalition.

Pastor Chris has worked tirelessly evangelizing as far away as Africa. Some ventures include feeding and clothing the less fortunate, providing resources for under privileged families and children, supporting ministries such as; Save the Children, Azusa Pacific Universities Missions and National Church Mission programs and many others.

SBC Monrovia, is like another home for Pastor Bourne with many friends and family are still members of the community and SBC Monrovia. Pastor Bourne’s very own, Aunt Mary Bourne proudly carried his first book Man of The Month around sharing it with the congregation. His book can also be found in the SBC’s bookstore. Although, he also has another talent and skill outside of writing and that is radio.

As a co-host radio personality, Pastor Chris has ministered to thousands of listeners over the airways of KJLH Radio 102.3 FM on Sunday nights “POWER HOUR.” “Pastor C” (as he is known by his radio audience) is thankful to have had a platform to share God’s word while also empowering the community with available resources to enhance their lives.

He is a devoted husband to his lovely wife, Heather Bourne and loving father to their two children Savannah and Chris Jr

People! Pastor Chris’ love for God beams from within as he represents God’s Kingdom. Whether he is meeting with the Chief of Police, Mayor of Pasadena, at our schools, or simply at the local barbershop, Pastor Chris’ love for God and His people is undeniable. Pastor Chris’ philosophy is taken from the scripture; John 9:4; “I must work the works of Him who sent me while it is day…” Until Christ Returns, Our Mission Remains!

L ady Heather is an encourager and inspiration to women of all ages. Her life’s journey has taken her through challenges, but the test and trials have made her stronger. Lady Bourne is the wife of Pastor Christopher A. Bourne. They have been married for nearly 15 years have 2 lovely children, (Daughter, Savannah -11 yrs), and (Son, Chris Jr. - 8 yrs.) She was the 1st Lady of Bethlehem Church of Pasadena for 14 years before the Lord led her and Pastor Chris to 2 nd Baptist Church. Some of the areas that she has served in are:

Children’s Church Ministry, An active member in the

Women’s Ministry (Christian Women Willing Workers) , Hands of Hope Prison Ministry, Drama and Arts ministry; and when called upon, sharing God’s Word to encourage the Women as well as the Youth Ministry. Lady Heather has worked in Real Estate Management for over 20 years and holds the title of Momager (Overseeing the children’s cotton candy business, Smartcottoncandy.com) Lady Heather loves the Lord with all her heart and is committed to her Husband and children as her 1 st ministry.
