Congratulations, Spa Catholic Grads! Meet the Valedictorians
SARATOGA SPRINGS — Fortytwo students graduated from Saratoga Central Catholic School on Friday, June 10 at St. Clement's Church on Lake Avenue. Spa Catholic Principal L. Stephen Lombard expressed great pride in all 42 graduates. “It’s a group of students who has really bought into the mission of Saratoga Central Catholic, especially when it comes to service,” Lombard said. “Many of them have taken on service project, raising money and levels of consciousness for various issues. They are going to be extremely successful because they are not at all selfish, and are very attuned to doing the right things.” This year’s valedictorians, Bridget Casey Naughton, Chloe Stasia Ethier, and Amelia Katherine Bielefeld, are an example of the bright, committed students of the graduating class of 2016. Naughton, daughter of Kate and Michael Naughton, is a native of Saratoga Springs. She is the vice president of the National Honor Society and a member of the community service club. As a member of Peer Ministry, she acts as a role model to other students. She was a member of Envirothon and Community Service Club for two years. She was elected president of her class twice, working with her advisors to set up community service projects and class fundraisers to pay for their senior activities. She was a varsity basketball cheerleader for all four years of her high school career, being a captain for three of the years. Naughton also participated in

the varsity volleyball program for two years, where she was a captain her senior year. For all four high school years, she also competed in the regional Odyssey of the Mind competitions and went on to states her sophomore year. Naughton will be attending Boston College in the fall and plans on majoring in secondary education and mathematics. Ethier, daughter of Steve and Kathy Ethier is a High Honors student as well as a Scholar Athlete with 16 Varsity pins. During her time at Saratoga Central Catholic, Chloe has been a member of the Varsity Golf team, Varsity Volleyball team, Varsity Basketball team and Varsity Track and Field Team. She is a National Honor Society member and also participates in Peer Ministry. Ethier will be attending Hobart and William Smith Colleges in the fall to major in Business.
Amelia Bielefeld is the daughter of James R. Bielefeld Jr. and Heidi Worthman. She is Vice President of her senior class and has been involved in student government throughout high school. She is treasurer of the National Honor Society and a Peer Minister at Saratoga Central Catholic. Bielefeld ran cross-country all four years of high school and played softball for three before joining the track team. She was also involved in Odyssey of the Mind, Envirothon, and Community Service Club. Bielefeld will attend St. Josephs University in Philadelphia in the Honors Program to pursue a degree in Biology on the premedical track. Bielefeld was also selected into the McNulty Program at St. Joseph's which is a scholarship program mentoring young women studying science and math.
