SculptureTour Possible through Sponsors, Friends and Partners

N ow presenting its 13th exhibition, SculptureTour Salina has been embraced by the local community and visitors alike since its inception. There are many reasons people respond to the program. It brings a collection of beautiful and diverse original art to Salina each May, on loan for 11 months. Also, it provides a free opportunity for everyone to expand their art experience, with a healthy walk as an extra benefit.

The exhibit creates yet another component in making Salina, and particularly Downtown, a destination for visitors to come and spend dollars in our local economy. Everyone can vote for their favorite sculpture each year – any age, local or visitor – as part of the People’s Choice Award. The winning sculpture is purchased by the City to become part of our permanent public art collection.

There are of course expenses for the overall program. There are cash awards for juror-selected pieces, the cost of providing accommodations, honorariums to have the pieces here, insurance, and marketing among others. Staffing is provided by the Chamber with support from Salina Downtown and many, many volunteers. These are all very important in creating an attractive opportunity for the artists to select Salina from among many similar exhibitions, in the hopes of ultimately selling their work.

We thank the many generous corporate sponsors who have supported SculptureTour. The companies each invest from $1,250 - $2,000 private dollars annually to bring this art to Salina. If you are interested in becoming a Sponsor, contact Sylvia Rice at: srice@salinakansas.org or Chairman Mike Hoppock at: mike@landtitlesalina.com.

The Friends of SculptureTour group is a way for businesses and individuals to lend their support to the program as well. Whether you have $50 or $1,000 to donate, it would be so appreciated, and essential in our hopes to enhance the program. Contact Sylvia Rice to receive a Friends application.

Most importantly, go Downtown, pick up a ballot from one of the silver boxes at the Santa Fe pedestrian crossings or from a merchant. Enjoy the exhibit and VOTE! Learn more at: www.sculpturetoursalina.org
