August 4, 2022 Dear Pastoral Leader and Clerk of Session Buying insurance for your congregation is often a confusing and time-consuming process. There is much to consider in making this decision especially in this day of uncertainty. I want you to know of a recent action by your Guiding Council that may be of benefit to your Session and congregation and may help make purchasing insurance an easier decision for you and your Session. We selected Church Mutual Insurance Company, S.I. of Merrill, Wisconsin to provide an affinity property and casualty insurance program designed exclusively for the Presbytery of New Harmony. There were several reasons we decided to make this group plan available to the congregations of our presbytery.  First, this program has a special premium credit of 5% applied to your Church Mutual multi-peril insurance policy.  Secondly, Church Mutual offers comprehensive and flexible coverage that can be tailored to fit your congregation’s unique insurance needs.  Third, Church Mutual has been working churches and religious entities for almost 125 years. They understand our situation and are known for providing excellent service to churches. Please know that participation in this affinity program by your Session is, of course, on a voluntary basis, and your Session is under no obligation to participate. If you are interested in receiving a quote, there are two ways to get it. You can either call Regional Representative Jeremy Lorinovich at 704-763-6980 (lives in SC) or Account Manager Michael Barwick at (800) 554-2642 Option 9 Ext. 6225 or you can email affinityprograms@churchmutual.com. If your congregation is already insured by Church Mutual, you will receive the affinity programs benefits at your next anniversary or renewal. Always remember, the Constitution of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), states that the purpose of a presbytery is for “assisting and supporting the witness of congregations to the sovereign activity of God in the world so that all congregations become communities of faith, hope, love and witness” to Jesus Christ. Your Guiding Council believes this effort to obtain this program for the benefit of our congregations is part of carrying out that purpose. I encourage you to learn about the advantages of this excellent plan, and I hope that this new affinity program will assist your Session in providing for your insurance needs, where the savings that may occur can be used for ministry and mission in your congregation and/or community.
