“After a tough year in 2022, it’s like physio has gone back up the list as an essential,” says Vicky Hinchliffe, owner of Chapman Physiotherapy. “Obviously we’ve had to increase our prices slightly as costs have rocketed but we’ve tried to be mindful of the financial stress everyone is under and keep it affordable.”

“The Bawtry practice has really taken off and is open Monday to Friday and we are adding Saturdays to increase capacity from August. It’s really drawing people from as far as Retford, Gainsborough and Worksop which is fantastic,” added Vicky. “But that means I’m back doing a lot more clinical days myself!”

Still as passionate about physio as ever after 21 years, Vicky is delighted about the direction the practice is taking. The introduction of Damon Khan, bringing his expertise in sport and children’s development physiotherapy, has provided another well needed service for Doncaster.

From July they are bringing in Emily Reed from newly-promoted premiership team Sheffield United FC as a massage therapist pending her physio registration. This frees up more appointments with the physios. And as a brand new service, hypnotherapy and psychotherapy are also now available as Jo Wright joins the practice.

Dorian Mars, a full-time football physiotherapist, has been added to the evening service in Doncaster and is a popular addition to the team.

But that’s enough about the new staff; Elly Howdle is as busy as ever, combining her workload with British Swimming alongside almost full-time hours at Chapman Physiotherapy. And Lloyd Hayes, the long serving strength and conditioning coach, is still available at the Doncaster practice which incorporates a gym. Lloyd has much more capacity since moving into parttime rugby and is keen to increase his
