l pasado 30 de marzo falleció en Mallorca el Dr. Klaus Graf, fundador y propietario de Puerto Portals, y uno de los impulsores más notables del turismo de calidad en las Islas Baleares. Junto a su esposa Margarita, el Dr. Graf percibió el inmenso potencial de Mallorca como destino turístico de primer nivel. A principios de la década de los ochenta puso en marcha la promoción y las obras de Puerto Portals, convirtiéndolo en un enclave de referencia y polo de atracción para residentes y visitantes de todas las nacionalidades. Un símbolo de excelencia en el Mediterráneo. El pasado año, la Cámara de Comercio de Mallorca otorgó al Dr. Graf su Medalla de Oro, en reconocimiento a su labor empresarial en pro de la imagen y el desarrollo económico de las islas durante las últimas cuatro décadas. Su visión, impulso e inmensa capacidad de trabajo nos servirán siempre de inspiración y guía para mantener vivo su recuerdo y legado. Le recordaremos siempre.

n 30th March last, in Palma, Dr. Klaus Graf passed away. He was the founder and owner of Puerto Portals, and one of the most remarkable driving forces behind quality tourism the Balearic Islands have known. With his wife Margarita, Dr. Graf perceived Mallorca’s huge potential as a high-end tourism destination. In the early ‘eighties he set his plan in motion and commenced the work on Puerto Portals, turning it into a model enclave and a magnet for residents and visitors of all nationalities. A symbol of excellence in the Mediterranean. Last year the Chamber of Commerce awarded Dr. Graf its Gold Medal in recognition of his entrepreneurial work to the benefit of the island’s image and economic development over the last four decades. Mit seiner Ehefrau Margarita war Dr. Klaus Graf vom ersten Augenblick vom riesigen Potential der Insel als erstklassige Urlaubsdestination überzeugt. Anfang der 80er Jahre begann Dr. Klaus Graf mit dem Projekt Puerto Portals, unter seiner Leitung avancierte der Hafen zur noblen Adresse für Touristen und Einheimische aus dem Inund Ausland. Puerto Portals wurde im Mittelmeerraum berühmt. Im vergangenen Jahr wurde Dr. Graf die Goldmedaille der Handelskammer Mallorca verliehen. Vier Jahrzehnte lang hatte sich Dr. Graf um das Image und die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung der Insel verdient gemacht. Seine Vision, sein Elan, und seine immense Arbeitsenergie werden uns als inspirierendes Beispiel und Vorbild stets in lebhafter Erinnerung bleiben. Wir werden ihn immer in Erinnerung behalten.

Luego en la paradisíaca Formentera, los puntos estratégicos son el Puerto de la Savina, la playa de Ses Illetes o el Faro de Cap de Barbaria. En Menorca, desde hace años, se considera indispensable disfrutar del crepúsculo desde la Cova d’en Xoroi, sobre un precioso acantilado en el sur. Pero también están en la lista los faros de Cavalleria y Punta Nati, o desde Monte Toro, el punto más alto de la isla.

Lugar de inspiración para artistas de todo tipo durante siglos, sus estrechas y frescas calles estimulan el paseo del viajero, que en cada rincón halla una sorpresa. Famosas son su Cartuja (en la que residió el pianista Frederic Chopin durante unos meses), y las tradicionales cocas de patata. Esporles, con su amplio Paseo lleno de terrazas de cafés y restaurantes, guarda una bellísima armonía, además del agradable aroma a humo de las chimeneas. Sóller y su influencia francesa de siglos, atribuyen a esta localidad un aire distinguido en sus construcciones, y sobre todo en su plaza central. Alaró es famoso por su Castillo, en el que los musulmanes se refugiaron tras la conquista cristiana del año 1229; y también por su mercado de los sábados, repleto de productos autóctonos. Pueblecitos como Banyalbufar o Estellencs, de apenas unos centenares de habitantes, ofrecen unas inolvidables vistas al mar. El coqueto Fornalutx, situado en las profundidades de un valle, o Escorca y sus dos grandes embalses, Cúber y Es Gorg Blau, a las faldas del Puig Major, la montaña más alta de Mallorca (1.445 metros), son localidades que bien merecen una visita sin prisa, en la que saborear toda su esencia ancestral.

Its spectacular rocky cove is yet another big local attraction. Just a few kilometres away, Valldemossa is perhaps the most visited village of them all. A place of inspiration for all kinds of artists for centuries, its cool, narrow streets beckon travellers to wander – and come across a surprise in every nook and cranny. Its Carthusian monastery, where pianist Frédéric Chopin resided for a few months, and traditional ‘coca de patata’ buns are famous. Esporles, with its broad boulevard filled with the terraces of cafés and restaurants, retains a beautiful harmony amidst the pleasant aroma of chimney smoke. Meanwhile Sóller’s centuries-long French influence lends a distinguished air to this town’s constructions, especially in the central square. Alaró is famous for its castle, where the Muslims sought refuge after the Christian conquest of 1229, and also for its busy Saturday market, chock-a-block with local products. Tiny villages like Banyalbufar or Estellencs, which have a population of just a few hundred, afford unforgettable views of the sea. Pretty little Fornalutx, situated in the depths of a valley, or Escorca and its two big reservoirs, Cúber and Es Gorg Blau, on the side of Puig Major, Mallorca’s highest mountain (1,445 metres), are two places that definitely deserve an unhurried visit, so you can fully savour their ancestral essence. In Esporles kann man auf der breiten Promenade zwischen Cafés und Restaurants flanieren und den rauchigen Duft der Kaminfeuer genießen. An den Häusern von Sóller, vor allem auf dem Marktplatz, lässt sich noch heute der einstige französische Einfluss ablesen, der das Dorf von anderen unterscheidet. Die Burg von Alaró hat das gleichnamige Dorf bekannt gemacht, hierhin flüchteten die Mauren nach der Wiedereroberung durch die Christen im Jahr 1229. Der Wochenmarkt am Samstag mit einheimischen Waren ist ebenfalls beliebt. Von den Dörfchen Banyalbufar und Estellencs, wo nur wenige hundert Einwohner leben, bieten sich atemberaubende Ausblicke aufs Meer. Das ursprüngliche Mallorca kann man auch im hübschen, in einem Tal liegenden Fornalutx oder in Escorça erleben, das an den beiden großen Stauseen Cúber und Es Gorg Blau am Fuße des höchsten Berges Mallorcas, dem Puig Major (1.445 Meter), liegt.

To celebrate this very special anniversary, on 27th July both institutions are holding a grand golf tournament followed by a gala dinner. ueron los instructores de surf en las playas de Hawaii quienes, utilizando sus longboards y sus rudimentarios remos de canoa, pusieron la primera piedra de lo que hoy conocemos como paddle surf, un deporte que, más allá de ser una novedad, es ya un clásico de las playas de Mallorca. Hace ya años que los surfistas profesionales comenzaron a practicarlo asiduamente en lagos, puertos y a mar abierto, como parte de sus entrenamientos. Los beneficios para la salud del paddle surf son además remarcables, pues se fortalece el tronco y en general la condición física de quien lo practica. El stand up paddle o surf a remo representa además otra manera entretenida de disfrutar de la riqueza del mar y la naturaleza.

Este es el segundo año que participo en esta competición y Puerto Portals me parece el lugar ideal para la celebración del evento.

1. Mi coche ha sido un Lotus Elan de 1965. Es muy cómodo y ligero a la hora de conducir. Además es el único coche de rally que puedes ver en la calle. 2. En la vida real manejo un Honda Civic y un Porsche. 3. Es uno de los mejores eventos del mundo en este tipo de rallies. Atrae a muchísima gente. Para mí, Sa Calobra es la parte más espectacular de la carrera. 4. Puerto Portals es un lugar con mucho éxito internacional, y cuenta con una zona comercial muy desarrollada.

La etapa de Sa Calobra es la más interesante, pero también disfruto mucho en los tramos del norte, como el de Capdepera. 4. Normalerweise fahre ich einen Seat Alhambra, Lancia Delta Integrale oder einen Audi Sport. 3. Für die Fahrer ist es ein attraktives RennTreffen in legerer Atmosphäre. Alle Etappen sind wunderschön, Mallorca bietet nun Mal einfach atemberaubende Landschaften. 4. Ich nehme zum zweiten Mal an der Rallye teil und Puerto Portals scheint mir der ideale Austragungsort dafür zu sein.

Die Etappe nach Sa Calobra ist die interessanteste, aber auch die Strecke im Norden um Capdepera gefällt mir sehr. 4. Puerto Portals gehört zu den besten Yachthäfen und ist das perfekte Fahrerlager für das Oris Oldtimer-Rennen.

ntre el 30 de mayo y el 1 de junio Puerto Portals organiza la segunda edición de Botánica Insólita, un paseo entre flores, plantas y productos ecológicos. Desde las 11 h. hasta las 21 h., el boulevard de Puerto Portals se convierte en el paraíso de los amantes de la naturaleza, donde podrán encontrar un sinfín de variedades autóctonas, así como plantas tropicales y exóticas, alimentos ecológicos o complementos de terraza y jardín. El evento se complementa con actuaciones musicales, exposiciones de bonsáis y orquídeas, charlas formativas, etc. Y para los más pequeños, talleres medioambientales infantiles impartidos por Magatzem Verd.
