Wants-n-Wishes Campaign 2014-15

Dear Parents, Faculty and Friends, On behalf of the Princeton Montessori Trustees, we extend our sincerest gratitude to all of you who donated to the 2013-14 campaign. It is noteworthy that because of your generosity, we were able to surpass last year’s goal of $150,000 by over $20,000. Most importantly, we are delighted to see your name among the list of our caring contributors. We invite you to review these pages to see the impact your past generosity has made on Princeton Montessori School as well as learn more about this year’s campaign. The 2014-15 Wants-n-Wishes Campaign will once again kick off with our Annual Telethon on December 3rd. Please call in or make your pledge or donation on-line. We will both be available to answer your phone call. Our goal this year is to surpass $150,000. Can we count on you to help? We are hoping to kick off the campaign in a big way and cannot do it without you. As we embark on the 2014-15 Want-n-Wishes Campaign, we are asking each member of our community to participate. Each gift, no matter how large or small, makes a difference and is appreciated. Wondering how much to give? This is a personal question and the response is different for each family. Think about how much you spend monthly on dining out or camps for your child. Why not earmark some of those funds to the Wants-n-Wishes Annual Campaign? We promise you -- all donations really do make a difference in the lives of children and faculty here at Princeton Montessori School. In addition, we are excited to introduce our 2014-15 campaign leaders who will be reaching out to each of you over the next few months. The campaign would not be possible without their gifts of time and energy. Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to Tracey Baskin, Judi Bauerlein, Cindy Betz, Jennifer Giblin, Maria Gomez, Dan Huang, Matt Lynch, Kate Norton, Nili Schnitzer and Emma Zetterberg. We thank you for your ongoing support, and hope we can count on you to make this year’s Wants-n-Wishes Campaign an even greater success. We are thrilled to have you as part of our Princeton Montessori Community! Sincerely,

Peter Egbert Rita Zetterberg Trustees, Princeton Montessori Society Co-Chairs, Wants-n-Wishes Campaign

Your gift to the Wants-n-Wishes Campaign has a direct impact on the everyday lives of students. Campaign funds are used for classroom materials and program enhancements, professional development for our exceptional faculty, and sustaining our beautiful environments. We rely on donations from Trustees, Parents, Faculty, Staff, Alumni, Grandparents and Friends to support the necessary enhancements that keep Princeton Montessori School progressive and make it a very special place for children. As with most independent schools, tuition alone does not cover all the costs associated with providing a superior Montessori education to our children. Wants-n-Wishes makes up the difference between tuition revenue and the actual cost of providing this quality education to children. Unlike tuition, however, donations to Wants-n-Wishes are tax deductible. Some have asked if we have special requests from teachers. The answer is yes! Requests for materials or program opportunities are included in the “Wants-nWishes” Campaign wish list each year and are found on the following pages. These are items that either directly enhance the children’s experience or give support to the teachers in being able to be efficient and effective in their care of the students, and are not included in our budget. By sponsoring an item from the teachers’ wish list, you are showing your support for our teachers and helping us to make the school a place where wishes really do come true, not only for children, but for the adults who care for them!

Help us reach our goal of $150,000 this year!

Dear Parents and Friends, We have put together a “wish list,” with suggested items that either directly enhance the children’s experience while at school or help us be more effective in caring for your children. (You can find more details on the school’s website.) By sponsoring an item from the wish list below, not only are you showing your support for the School, but also confirming that you believe Princeton Montessori School is a place where wishes really do come true, not only for children, but for the adults who care for them! Sincerely, The Princeton Montessori Faculty

Why Give? Princeton Montessori School’s Wants-n-Wishes Campaign is the School’s most important source of revenue other than students’ tuition. It is a vital part of each year’s operating budget, contributing to every part of the school’s operations. Campaign gifts allow us to attract and retain the very best teachers, provide quality materials, and provide our students with a wide variety of diverse experiences. In brief, the Wants-n-Wishes Campaign touches all aspects of the School.

How can my family contribute?

Gifts of every size are gratefully appreciated. Please give as generously as you can. Consistent participation is just as important as the donation amount. An investment in the present and future of Princeton Montessori School is one that will pay life-time dividends for your children and for future generations. In addition, your donation, unlike tuition fees, is 100% tax-deductible.

When should I give?

The the Wants-n-Wishes Campaign kicks off with a Telethon in early December. Between January and March you will be personally contacted by a Trustee of the school or a fellow parent to ask for your participation. Donations are gratefully accepted up to July 30th, but the best gift of all is an early commitment.

Why don’t you just raise the tuition?

A full tuition at Princeton Montessori School does not cover the complete cost of educating each student. If the school relied solely on tuition income, we would price ourselves well beyond the means of most families. In addition, gifts to the Wants-n-Wishes Campaign are 100% tax-deductible while tuition is not.

Who supports the Wants-n-Wishes Campaign?

Each family, past and present, plays an active role in the school community. Our current parents, former parents, grandparents, alumni, trustees, friends, faculty, and staff share the responsibility of meeting the school’s educational goals and ensuring a soundly governed and financially healthy institution.

Do other schools ask for donations to their Wants-n-Wishes Campaign?

Almost every independent school in the country has an Annual Campaign. It is an important tool that helps keep tuition affordable and enhances the children’s educational experience. A common goal of 100% participation builds community and inspires others to give.

“My family has gladly given to Wants-n-Wishes over the years. Our boys have benefitted so much from the teachers’ requests for enhancements to their programs.” – Sunanda Nair-Bidkar, current parent, mother of Ishrith and Aatrey
