Earlier this year, the Victoria Police Centre and other landmarks were illuminated in support of the 2022 Candlelight Vigil. The colour purple marked Family Violence Awareness Month, an event to remember those whose lives have been taken as a direct result of family and domestic violence.

Being on the ground provides members of the unit with the opportunity to speak to the public and get to know what people are looking for when it comes to policing in their area. Working alongside first responders from Life Saving Victoria and Ambulance Victoria, Sergeant Patrick Yeung, Sergeant Matthew Roberts, Leading Senior Constable John Hogan and Leading Senior Constable Stephen Carter rescued a group of stranded beachgoers at Bushrangers Bay on 13 January. The officers were recognised for their quick action in June, when they were presented with certificates to acknowledge their work.
