Don‘t dream your life live your dream! Sailing is passion, emotion and expression of pure joy of life. What water sports enthu siast has not already dreamt of sitting on a flashy boat and gliding over the water? Jumping over the waves, feeling the wind in one’s face and hearing the spray swoosh. Driven by wind – the endless element – car ried by a safe sailing catamaran... Sailing is a dram that one should definitely fulfil. With a HAPPY CAT, this is easier in every way than one might dream. While rigid sailing boats are heavy, inflexible and expen sive, the HAPPY CAT is light, flexible and affordable. Thanks to its small packaging dimensions, it can be easily stored at home and is ready for sailing at all times, regard less of where you are. Whether in the immedi ate vicinity on the small dam lake, on inland lakes or on the sea coast. The easy to sail HAPPY CAT is a great vehicle everywhere and a great source of joy for everyone: • Fun sportsmen, who go to their limits and get everything out of the HAPPY CAT. • Families, who go on safe sailing adventures with children and want to enjoy wonderful vacations. • Seniors, who can do just what they have always dreamt of in retirement. Drive to the water, unload, pump up, rig and off they go! Handing packaging bags are quickly transformed into an ultimate sailing fun. The new HAPPY CATs offer sailing properties that fascinate beginners and advance sailors. Safety is a major focus. And if there is a sud den calm, there is no longer any need to wait for wind at the shore, you can use the spa cious platform as a swimming and sun island, which can also be driven with a motor.

2

High-tech rubber floats The floats are made of 3-layer EPDM / natu ral rubber boat skin that has been tried and tested 100,000 times. This guarantees opti mum airtightness, top fire resistance and a long life cycle.

The holiday dream from the suitcase To travel and be mobile is the desire of our generation. The same goes for sailing. To get to know new areas and discover new sailing areas. This is possible any time using a car, caravan or by public transport. And the HAP PY CAT is always with you. No other boat has so many benefits: • thanks to the small packaging volume, stor age at home is really simple, because there is easily enough space for a HAPPY CAT in the cellar or attic.

Transport in a small car

Transport on a car roof 3-layer boat skin

• the low weight makes the carrying on land by 2 persons very easy. The transport is car ried out in 2 or 3 handy bags. • the dismantled catamaran can also be transported in a 60 cm transport box on the car rack. (observe car regulations) • with a bit of exercise, the installation can be completed in about 25 minutes and the dismantling in about 10 minutes. (observe installation instructions)

Transport in/on caravan/vehicle

Quick installation

Highest operating pressure = best driving properties Thanks to the high operating pressure (0.3 bar), the floats are given maximum stability. This signifi cantly improves the solidity of the longitudinal direction wand torsion and makes it easier to stray the course. 5-year boat skin and 2-year total warranty In addition to the 5-year boat skin warranty, there is also a 2-year total warranty on the entire boat (the requirement is that the war ranty provisions are observed see manual).

Top quality and safety High-tech frame and rig All frame and rig special profiles consist of highly solid DUR aluminium alloy and are anodised in a sea water-resistant way. The fin holder, control head, tiller and bearings are made from high-quality Nirosta stainless steel and are etched against aggressive salty water flash rust.

HAPPY CAT race Black Sea

Durable and sustainable A HAPPY CAT cannot be beaten when it comes to sustainability. If looked after correctly, the boat will last for years. At the end of its lifecy cle, all components can be recycled and the environmentally friendly rubber material used to generate long-distance heat. 3

HAPPY CAT ULTRALIGHT It is not difficult to build a light boat. But a light boat that must withhold the extreme forces of the wind, waves and its load is more than a challenge. After years of tinkering and research, GRAB NER has managed to develop a sensation ally light portable catamaran that can be dis mantled into small parts. The secret of the ULTRALIGHT lies in the highly solid profile trampoline frame that can be dismantled into small parts and into which the trampoline sail can be retracted in a split second and tensed solid. As well as in a comprehensive tension ing running from the stern to the bowsprit that absorbs the forces of the sail. The fact that all details are also executed professionally and in top quality is expected from GRABNER anyway. This means that a very small portable catamaran has been created that can be tak en apart and is unbeatable - also as regards its price – in the global market. The HAPPY CAT ULTRALIGHT is designed for anyone who wishes to sail alone, together or in a group of three. In addition, also where the packaging volume and transport weight play an important role. Not least where the fun factor is facing extreme use. Everybody wanting to sail on a hull also get their money’s worth with the HAPPY CAT ULTRALIGHT.

4

HAPPY CAT ULTRALIGHT

Floats + frames • The hull floats made from strong natural rubber boat skin allow operating pressure of 0.3 bar and are fitted with safety valves. Via 8 belt tongues they are connected to the trampoline frame in a slip-proof man ner. • The entire forces of the rig, fin and steering are absorbed by the trampoline frame only. It consists of stable anodised dural special profiles that can be dismantled into small parts. • From the retral frame to the bowsprit, 2 Nirosta tension ropes stabilise the overall construction.. • The trampoline is tensioned on 4 sides. With 6 plug snap buckles it can be ten sioned in a matter of seconds. Cumbersome rope threading and re-tensioning is not necessary. The fine-mesh net prevents water logging on the trampoline. • On the trampoline, that is nearly 2.2 m2 in size, 3 adults can sail comfortably or lie in the sun. • 1 double toe strap is fastened to the tram poline. Through 2 foot straps for two feet each, it is easy to lean out. • For fastening of 2 paddles, 2 x 2 elastic toggle fasteners can be found on the tram poline. • Tidiness is ensured on the trampoline by a net bag, where all fall lines can be stowed away.

• The pivoting central fin can be fastened in every position. When driving onto an obsta cle or when landing, the fin automatically releases and is thereby not damaged. Because the fin rope tensioning, nothing can get caught and brake. • The stern steering has a retractable steer ing blade with fastening clamps for every diving angle and an automatic release mechanism.

Rigging • The 3-section mast made from strongly anodized Dural mast profile is tensioned via 2 x 2 = 4 shrouds to the rear and for wards via the forestay. • The mainsail incorporates a bolt rope, facilitating easy hoisting and lowering of the sail, without the need to unstep the mast. • The foot of the modern Racing sail is appointed aslope downwards. Its varying height settings allow for ample headroom and adjustment to suit. • The mainsail consists of high quality Dacron and is stiffened with 6 GFK bat tens • The furling foresail enables adjustment to prevailing and changing wind conditions. By means of furling gear roller, sheets and furling line, the foresail can instantly be reduced and rolled out. The foresail is fit ted with a large integrated clear view screen for forward vision.

• The luff tensioner fastens to a cleat on the mast. • Main- and jib halyards are made of nonstretch braided Aramid, for clamp belay at the lower mast section. • The main-sheet runs and fastens via pulley with curry cleat, attached to the rudder assembly. A sheave assures the function of a traveller. • All links are by carabiner or shackle to eliminate cumbersome, retrospect knot making or re-tensioning. • A standard supplied masthead fly is a good indicator for wind direction • Additional bond on sail tell-tales, 2 on the main- and 2 on the foresail provide exact indication of the wind flow along the sails. If you wish to sail the catamaran with more than 3 people, with a very heavy load and at winds of more than 4 Beaufort, you should best opt for the HAPPY CAT VISION.

NOTICE: Foresail and mainsail from HAPPY CAT ULTRALIGHT are available in two designs: • white - the traditional sails colour • colour design - for sporty youthful appearance (see page 10) • The jib sheets are fair lead fed to facilitate single hand sailing with ease. 5

HAPPY

CAT

VISION is fitted with everything that discerning sailing enthusiasts expect from a sporty, portable 4-person catamaran. The HAPPY CAT VISION is fitted with 3D hull floats. At the same wind, the catamaran thereby becomes even faster, the bow wash and the spray are reduced significantly. Even light wind is enough and off the ride goes. The boat starts to glide at corresponding wind strengths.

Floats + frames • The hull floats made from strong natural rubber boat skin allow operating pressure of 0.3 bar and are fitted with safety valves. Rigging • The 4-section mast made from strongly anodized Dural mast profile is tensioned via 2 x 2 = 4 to the rear and forwards via the forestay. • Interaction of components of the long bowsprit and standard supplied forward crossbar to absorb the sail power. • The mainsail incorporates a bolt rope, facilitating easy hoisting and lowering of the sail, without the need to unstep the mast. • The foot of the modern Racing sail is appointed aslope downwards. Its varying height settings allow for ample headroom and adjustment to suit. • Made for best aerodynamic performance the main is cut from hi-tech transparent foil laminate material, and stiffened by 7 GRP sail battens. • The furling foresail enables adjustment to prevailing and changing wind conditions. 7

By means of furling gear roller, sheets and furling line, the foresail can instantly be reduced and rolled out and set to different sizes. The foresail is made of hard wearing Dacron material, with a large integrated clear view screen for forward vision • The jib sheets are fair lead fed to facilitate single hand sailing with ease. • The luff tensioner fastens to a cleat on the mast. • Main- and jib halyards are made of nonstretch braided Aramid, for clamp belay at the lower mast section. • The main-sheet runs and fastens via pulley with curry cleat, attached to the rudder assembly. The HAPPY CAT VISION is ISO 6185 certi fied and licensed for sport boat category C. This allows sailing on large lakes and coastal waters. The sensational HAPPY CAT VISION lacks absolutely nothing and even fulfils the wishes of discerning and spoilt sailors.

More than 50 years of experience The history of the HAPPY CAT goes back to the 1950s of the past century. GRABNER’s predecessor SEMPERIT already manufac tured and sold globally portable catamarans back then. At GRABNER, the boat was re christened as HAPPY CAT and has been per manently further developed since. An in creasing amount of supplements resulted in an increase of the weight and price. In 2005 the HAPPY CAT became about 40% lighter, dismountable to an even smaller size and was given several innovations. Since 2008 it was been fitted with sensational 3D floats (VISI ON). In 2009 the RACING model was given laminate racing sails, in 2011 another inno vative quantum leap followed with the VISION and in 2012 the super light ULTRALIGHT celebrates its world premier.

SENSATION From Genua to Tunis – 700 km on the open sea The Austrian Philipp Benda set his mind on crossing the Mediterranean with a dismoun table portable catamaran. A mad idea, becau se after all this is a distance of 1,000 km and means sailing day and night. Together with his friend Christian Redl, as well as luggage, food and 120 kg of drinking water, the two set off in Albissola near Genua.

Christian REDL

With a stiff breeze, the journey went in the direction of the Tyrrhenian Islands for 3 days, In the area of Corsica-Sardinia, there were days of total calm. Due to time pressure, the route of the islands therefore had to be com pleted by airplane. Here, the ability to dis mount the HAPPY CAT proved to be a huge advantage. From Cagliari, the two sailed at winds of 4-5, gales of up to 7 Beaufort and up to 6 metre high waves to the target in Hammamet, Tunisia.

equiment, food and 120 L drinking water

The human demands were huge. 8 days and nights on 4 m2, permanent wet weather, no toilet, aggressive sun, hardly any sleep and many dangerous situations drained on the stamina. The meeting with sperm whales, dolphins and manta rays was, however, a ple asant change. The achievement is remarkab le. After all, the two sailed 700 km entirely on the open sea. As a rule, a HAPPY CAT is not made for such an extreme undertaking. Thanks to the ability to dismantle the dinghy, the parts are not as solid and stiff as with heavy catamarans. The fact that the HAPPY CAT VISION lasted this extreme journey without any problems is the best proof of its high quality. If a boat with stands such extreme demands, it will certain ly be sufficient for hobby sportsmen.
