ecause of historically low interest rates, so many of Hawaii’s homeowners are remodeling. If you are going through the remodeling process and planning a new kitchen or bath, you are probably purchasing new appliances, sinks, shower units and bathtubs. If you haven’t given any thought to how long these new appliances and fixtures are going to last or how much water they will use, Harald von Sydow, director of Nano Tek-On, has some sage advice. “If you are remodeling, your home is most likely 15 to 30 years old,” said von Sydow. “Your plumbing is undoubtedly clogged with limescale.
