open student call 2021

NL Het Noorderlicht Internationaal Fotofestival heeft voor de tweede keer een Open Student Call uitgezet, na de succesvolle piloteditie van 2020 in Heerenveen. Dit jaar werd studenten lens-based media wereldwijd gevraagd om in één beeld vast te leggen wat aanvoelt als ‘de werkelijkheid’ in een wereld die weinig houvast lijkt te bieden: halve, hele en lege waarheden worden van alle kanten op ons afgevuurd. We worden continu gevraagd te oordelen: wat en wie vertrouwen we?

We ontvingen maar liefst 145 inzendingen uit 41 landen van alle continenten. Die worden tentoongesteld op het SuikerZijde-terrein, vlakbij de vloeivelden.

EN For the second time, the Noorderlicht International Photo Festival has put out an Open Student Call, after the very successful pilot edition of 2020. This year we asked students lens-based media worldwide to reflect in one image what feels like ‘reality’ in a world that seems to offer little to hold onto: half, whole and empty truths are fired at us from all directions. We are constantly asked to judge: what and who do we trust?

We received no less than 145 submissions from 41 countries from all continents. All these images will be exhibited around the old sugar factory.
