TWO NEW COACHES TAKE THE HELM: Pat Vuyancih was recently named head coach of the boys basketball program. A graduate of Euclid High School, Vuyancih played on Cleveland State’s basketball team that advanced to the Sweet 16 in the 1986 NCAA Tournament. He has head coach experience at Lake Erie College, Mount Healthy High School in Cincinnati, and Euclid High School.

Alexandra Manfroni `16 was named head coach of the girls lacrosse program. An assistant coach in 2022, Manfroni served as head coach of Revere High School in 2021. She graduated from Miami University with a degree in sport management.

BRIAN BATES `23 WINS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP! Hats off to Brian Bates as he was crowned State Champion in the 800m run in Division II state track. Bates is NDCL’s first state champion in track and caps an incredible season after being part of the indoor track team’s national championship this winter. Congratulations!

NEWS AND NOTES FROM CAMPUS

FORMER FACULTY REUNION: NDCL hosted its first reunion of former faculty and staff members on June 9th. Over 40 former teachers, staff, and guests retold stories, memories, and enjoyed a BBQ dinner catered by the Brown Barn in Chardon. It was an early kickoff to NDCL’s 35th anniversary in 2023. A number of current “long-time” faculty members attended and enjoyed re-connecting with past colleagues. Guests toured NDCL to see “what’s new” on campus.

VINKA HARTMAN RETIRES

FROM TEACHING AFTER 40+ YEARS: Long time foreign language teacher Vinka Hartman retired from teaching this past spring. She won’t be gone long! Vinka will be on campus as an academic coach in NDCL’s Academic Success Center. Thank you, Vinka for your many years of teaching to the young men and women of Notre Dame Academy and NDCL!

NDCL AWARDS “LIVING THE TRUTH IN LOVE” RECOGNITION TO 16 STUDENTS: Every year, four students in each grade are nominated by teachers, counselors, and administrators to receive this award that recognizes those who best represent NDCL’s mission.

Class of 2022 recipients: Kate Kaprosy, Caden Linnert, Vincent Mickey, and Courtney Thomas received their recognition at the Senior Award Ceremony.

Class of 2023 recipients: Simon Paulic, Victoria Baioni, Sofia Thornhill, and RJ DiCello

Class of 2024 recipients: Dylan White, Audrey Brlecic, Kara Fox, and Anthony Roach DEBEVEC WINS SILVER MEDAL IN NATIONAL ART COMPETITION:

Rachel Debevec `22 won a silver medal in the 2022 National Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. Her work, titled “Alone with your thoughts” and others are on the Cleveland Institute of Arts website at www.cia.edu. Congratulations, Rachel!
