En cada edición, BOGOSHORTS al tablero ofrece espacios de formación a nuevos y futuros realizadores, así como a todos aquellos interesados en el cine y, sobre todo, en los formatos cortos. Ponemos en diálogo hitos y acontecimientos históricos con el momento actual. Esta vez lo hacemos a través de una búsqueda, de un viaje que nos permite ubicarnos para avanzar.

El 2021, un año que prometió recuperar lo que perdimos en el 2020, tiempo en que pensamos volver a la normalidad; la que finalmente no ha llegado y quizás no regrese, pues el trayecto parece infinito. Pero en medio de la agobiante sensación de no saber dónde estamos, encontramos caminos, rutas que trazan un viaje que cambia por completo nuestras antiguas formas de pensar y de estar.

En esta edición de BOGOSHORTS al tablero, los protagonistas serán aquellos que hacen cine desde otras miradas y, que a pesar de la centralización de nuestra industria, han logrado de manera excepcional sumar a nuestra cinematografía nuevas historias, retratos de la diversidad, esa que habita la cartografía nacional. También traemos un nuevo concepto, Cine clase D: disidencia, desobediencia y democracia, con las distintas manifestaciones artísticas que lo integran, la presencia de los espacios públicos que se expresan más allá de la denuncia, tocando fibras profundas de quienes vivimos esos territorios.

Exploraremos películas que son un viaje, entendiendo el cine como una búsqueda que implica un tránsito que puede ser geográfico, temporal, mental, emocional, hacia el interior de nosotros mismos. El mismo viaje que hacemos por la historia del cine universal para encontrar cómo este es detonante de narrativas propias que también eligen el humor para contar lo devastador, lo injusto, lo miserable. O cómo a través de nuestras películas y de acciones concretas podemos transformar el mundo en el que vivimos y no solo afectarnos porque se desmorona.

Estos múltiples abordajes trazan una sola cartografía que supone nuevas rutas hacia la luz, la esencia misma del cine. Este medio que nos llena de alegría, de esperanza, de sorpresa y de posibilidades infinitas de ser. Los Encuentros cercanos llegarán a diferentes sedes del festival, mientras que los paneles se realizarán en la Sala Capital de la Cinemateca de Bogotá, con acceso prioritario para acreditados del festival y con transmisión en vivo a través de la página de Facebook de @bogoshorts. In each edition, BOGOSHORTS to the board offers academic spaces to new and future filmmakers, as well as to all those interested in cinema and, above all, in short formats. We put in dialogue milestones and historical events with the current moment. This time we do it through a search, a journey that allows us to locate ourselves in order to move forward.

The year 2021, a year that promised to recover what we lost in 2020, a time in which we thought we would return to normality; the one that finally has not arrived and may not return, since the journey seems infinite. But in the midst of the overwhelming feeling of not knowing where we are, we find paths, routes that trace a journey that completely changes our old ways of thinking and being.

In this edition of BOGOSHORTS to the board, the protagonists will be those who make films from other points of view and, despite the centralization of our industry, have exceptionally managed to add to our cinematography new stories, portraits of diversity, that which inhabits the national cartography. We also bring a new concept, Class D Films: dissidence, disobedience and democracy, with the different artistic manifestations that integrate it, the presence of public spaces that express themselves beyond denunciation, touching deep fibers of those of us who live in these territories.

We will explore films that are a journey, understanding cinema as a search that implies a transit that can be geographical, temporal, mental, emotional, towards the interior of ourselves. The same journey we make through the history of universal cinema to find how it is a trigger for our own narratives that also choose humor to tell what is devastating, unjust, miserable. Or how through our films and concrete actions we can transform the world we live in and not only be affected because it is crumbling.

These multiple approaches trace out a single cartography that represents new routes towards light, the very essence of cinema. This medium that fills us with joy, hope, surprise and infinite possibilities of being. The Close Encounters will take place at different venues of the festival, while the panels will be held at Sala Capital of Cinemateca de Bogotá, with priority access for accredited festival attendees and live streaming through the @bogoshorts Facebook page.

Encuentros cercanos - Charlas con los realizadores / Close encounters - talks with the filmmakers

A diferencia del año pasado, en esta edición nuestros encuentros con realizadores sí serán cercanos (aunque manteniendo el distanciamiento social), para descubrir las historias detrás los guiones y rodajes, y aprender de las experiencias de producción de los cortometrajes de la Competencia Nacional y los Panoramas colombianos. Sin embargo, todos los interesados en conocer a los cineastas, podrán seguir la transmisión por streaming en nuestra página en Facebook: @bogoshorts, y nuestro canal en YouTube: BOGOSHORTStv

Unlike last year, in this edition our Q&As with filmmakers will be close (while maintaining the social distance), to discover the stories behind the scripts and shootings, and learn from the production experiences of the short films in the National Competition and the Colombian Panoramas. Heny Cuesta, realizadora audiovisual, fundadora de Cimarrón Producciones, Magister en Gestión y Producción Cultural, activista y líder afrocolombiana; Nelly Kuirú, indígena múrui de la Universidad Indígena Itinerante del Amazonas y productora audiovisual; Eleggua Luna, directora de Santa Films, productora audiovisual trans marica y Mauricio Pulido, antropólogo y gestor cultural, director de Siembrafest, participan en esta charla, moderada por Nicolás Cuellar, director de ‘Historias en kilómetros’, que nos acercará a distintas maneras de descentralizar la producción audiovisual en Colombia, pero sobre todo, de cómo nutrirla de nuevas y diversas narrativas. Las coordenadas marcan los lugares, los mapas ilustran los sitios y permiten dar inicio a la búsqueda. En el cine nos paramos para luego avanzar con tenacidad hacia el interior, hacia culturas desconocidas, hacia territorios nuevos, hacia otros tiempos. Tres directores, José Luis Rugeles (‘Alias María’), Andrés Torres (‘La fortaleza’) y Nicolás Rincón (‘Tantas almas’), nos hablarán sobre cómo sus películas fueron un viaje, cómo lo trazaron, a dónde llegaron y qué encontraron en este tránsito. The coordinates mark the places, maps illustrate the sites and allow the search to begin. In cinema, we stop and then move tenaciously inward, into unknown cultures, into new territories, into other times. Three directors, José Luis Rugeles (‘Alias María’), Andrés Torres (‘La fortaleza’) and Nicolás Rincón (‘Tantas almas’), will talk about how their films were a journey, how they traced it, where they arrived and what they found in this transit. BOGOSHORTS pone sobre la mesa un nuevo término, CINE CLASE D: Disidencia. Desobediencia. Democracia. Para comprender este tema hemos convocado a Garavato, artista gráfico y grafitero quien creó el puño icónico del paro, a Diana Ojeda, artista urbana y muralista que a través de proyecciones propone un lenguaje político en los espacios públicos; Felipe Vásquez, realizador del corto ‘¿Qué pasa en las calles?’ sobre los periodistas que han estado junto a la primera línea, y Juan Cristóbal Cobo, fotógrafo que encontró en lo urbano su lugar de creación. Este panel, moderado por Santiago Rivas, artista y periodista, es sobre la imagen, quien pinta las calles, quien proyecta en las calles, quien filma las calles y quien las registra. BOGOSHORTS brings to the table a new term, CLASS D FILMS: Dissidence. Disobedience. Democracy. To understand this topic we have invited Garavato, graphic artist and graffiti artist who created the iconic fist of the Colombian strike; Diana Ojeda, urban artist and muralist who through projections proposes a political language in public spaces; Felipe Vásquez, director of the short film ‘¿Qué pasa en las calles?’ about journalists who have been next to the front line in protests; and Juan Cristóbal Cobo, photographer who found in urban spaces his place of creation. This panel, moderated by Santiago Rivas, artist and journalist, is about the image, who paints the streets, who projects on the streets, who films the streets and who records them. Este espacio es presentado por DOC:CO LABS en alianza con ShortsXChange para conocer iniciativas que han logrado cambio e impacto social a través de sus cortometrajes. Porque el corto propicia el cambio social, estaremos conversando con tres invitados/as que han tenido éxito con sus cortometrajes y sus estrategias de impacto, generando cambios en la sociedad desde enfoques sociales, comunitarios y ambientales: Isabella Bernal, directora de ‘Verde como el oro’, Cris Master, del colectivo CocoSur y Sandra Tabares, productora de impacto de Quipu Project. Berlanga: Las carcajadas trágicas de un país / Berlanga: The tragic laughter of a country

En conmemoración del centenario del nacimiento de José Luis García-Berlanga, director español destacado en la historia del cine mundial por la manera en la que abordó temas como el hambre, la corrupción y la miseria en España, con una narrativa ingeniosa que se abasteció del absurdo, para representar, entre otros momentos, la posguerra con un componente cómico. El sentido del humor de Berlanga, la firma de su cine, contó el horror a través del humor, lo que influyó de manera determinante en la cinematografía latinoamericana. Diego Cañizal conversa sobre este fenómeno con Manuel Kalmanovitz, crítico de cine, Dago García, director y productor de cine colombiano reconocido por el género de la comedia, y Jhon Alex Toro, quien en su último papel le dio vida a un personaje que parece concebido por Berlanga. In commemoration of the centenary of the birth of José Luis García-Berlanga, a Spanish director who stood out in the history of world cinema for the way he addressed issues such as hunger, corruption and misery in Spain, with a witty narrative that drew on the absurd to depict, among other moments, the post-war period with a comic component. Berlanga’s sense of humor, the signature of his cinema, told the horror through humor, which had a decisive influence on Latin American filmmaking. Diego Cañizal talks about this phenomenon with Manuel Kalmanovitz, film critic, Dago García, Colombian film director and producer known for the comedy genre, and Jhon Alex Toro, who in his last role gave life to a character that seems to have been conceived by Berlanga.
