The purpose of this portfolio is to unify the various works that Simple Reels had done. It reflects what we can do now and, more importantly, in the future.

Simple reel has four core members. Each member is uniquely talented in his own ways and in different directions. And yet, they are able to seamlessly come together to create not just asthetically pleasing works, but also functionally viable ones as well.

From this portfolio, you will be able to see the results and power of this collaboration.

To us, when we design, we hold on to one basic principle:

“Communication is nothing if not delivered to the right audience. We don’t just design, we deliver!”

We do not think that in the commercial world, creative works are executed purely on its asthetic values. We agree that asthetics are important. But more importantly, why are we doing it this way? And not any other way. The question we will always ask ourselves is what is the message we want to send?

And to whom? That is why, out of the four core members of Simple Reels, three members are from the mass communications fratinity, and one member majors in graphics designs. Incidentally, that one member who does graphics designs, happens to also be a Biochemisty honours graduate.

So, we don’t just design for the sake of designing.

We will always consider very carefully the impact any design would have on your message.

tracing works This is the vectorisation of Gundam 00 from the Japanese animation Gundam W. The artwork was created based on a plastic model of the robot and vectorised over a period of 4 weeks.

Below is our unique Chinese New Year greeting cards collections. We do respect culture. But, we want to put a smile on the receipient’s face when he/she received it.

[Above] This is a conventional printed greeting card we designed for a fitness company “Active Lifestyle Facilitation”. The back of the design is shown as a thumbnail at the bottom. The design merged the concept of a greeting card and a post card so that it saves cost and resources.

[Below] These are some other personalised greeting cards for personal usage.

We like to make it personalised and unqiue. What is important is, whoever receives the card received more than just a card!

[Below] This is an electronic greeting card for 2012 Chnese Lunar New Year. We do respect culture, but due to the fact that internet users have lesser patience these days, a simple and yet funny cartoon may serve the purpose better.

Also, it helps makes the receipient happy.

Creating an electronic greeting card is not very difficult today. There are lots of online services available to help automate the whole ‘creative’ process. However, as with all templated solutions, there is only that much ‘creativity’ available. So, to create something truly unique and personalised, you will still need a human touch to it.

active lifestyle facilitation Active lifestyle facilitation is a fitness consultation business. In the market, most fitness companies or businesses revolve their marketing around the word “fitness�. They like to also associate themselves with being seen as muscular which they believe is fitness itself.

But the owner of active lifestyle facilitation believed otherwise. He felt that being active is the key of being fit. He wanted to differentiate himself as someone who focuses on facilitating his client to become active to be fit rather than coaching them to blindly chase after the asthetic aspects of the flesh only. This is what was created for him.

[Above] Variant 1 of logo of Active Lifestyle Facilitation. The logo is a humanlike construct which used clean fluid lines to represent graceful movements.

Tapered waist of the human-like logo is also symbolic of the good proportion of the human body resulting from exercising. The word “Active” was in bold in the logotype to emphasize the business owner’s belief on what fitness should be.

mitse & co pte ltd Mitse & Co Pte Ltd is a pharmaceutical company. The business was owned by two partners. We have been engaged by them to design their corporate identity as well as to apply their new identity to the product they were preparing to launch into the market.

hercules fitness Hercules Fitness is a local fitness company started off by a local national heavyweight bodybuilder.

In the design of his company’s corporate identity, he wanted to use his own personal bodybuilding image to brand his business. Also, the emphasis of his branding would need to be the word hercules, as in strength, power and might.

greenmatic engineering pte ltd Greenmatic engineering is a local engineering company set up with the intent of becoming a ecofriendly company dealing with ‘green’ engineering. The corporate identity is thus geared towards an eco-like appearance.

[Above] This is the corporate signature of Greenmatic Engineering Pte Ltd we have designed. In this corporate signature, we have used three features to relate to Eco-friendliness: (1) The blue circle which signifies Earth; (2) Hand written logotype as opposed to the use of commercial typefaces to signify nature; (3) The three hexagonal rings, related to engineering, were tilt at 23 degrees. This is the natural tilt of the Earth.

HISTORY of

KETTLEBELLS

Kettlebells are also known as Girya in Russian. It looks like a metal cannon ball with a flat bottom and a handle molded to it. This simple piece of equipment has long been used as a dynamic tool to develop strength and endurance. Archaeological records shows evidence of their use in Ancient Greece.

In the 1700s, Kettlebells made their way to russia as a weight measurement for grain and goods. At the end of the market day, folks and farmers started swinging and lifting these the kettlebells to show their strength and quickly found out health and benefits related to lifting it.

Kettlebells eventually began to flourish and spread in the former Soviet Union, in rural areas, military and amongst the Olympic atheletes. Soviet Olympic weightlifters utilize Kettlebells unilaterally in order to strengthen their weaker side. To this day, countries of the old eastern bloc rely on kettlebells for supplementing the training of many of their athletes and armed forces. Russian research concluded that kettlebells were an excellent tool for improving all around fitness and performance. “Kettlebells improve coordination and agility (Luchkin, 1947, Laputin, 1973).

Kettlebells develop professional applied qualities and general physical preparedness (Zikov, 1986, Griban, 1990).

From being used as a weight for grain to a tool for athletic development and health, the kettlebell slowly developed into a sport of its own.

They bought an A4 sized portrait ad space in a magazine.

However, the artwork of their original ad was not designed for such a placement. Hence, a redesigning was needed.

LOVER OF NATURE Richelle loves tranquility as she believes the power of nature has a positive impact which could enhance one’s well-being. She loves playing different kinds of sports but she particularly enjoys swimming. To her, being in water allows her to be in touch with her inner peace.

Richelle believes strongly in being environmentally friendly so as to keep Mother Earth clean and green at all times. She goes by the three simple green lifestyle practices “Reduce, Reuse & Recycle”. As a green ambassador, Richelle is determined to fulfill her personal goal in making the world a more beautiful place to live in.

Although she has an unexplainable craze for leopard prints, you will never catch her on a real fur coat as she is strong advocate of saving the animals from cruel acts. Richelle has always wanted to be a zookeeper as she has strong affections for animals. One day, she hopes to be able to open a pet farm.
