Derby is the site of the world’s first factory! Derby’s history of innovation is to be marked by a new, £17m Museum of Making. Credited with designing the baseball scorecard, and with pioneering soda drinking through a paper straw, the story goes that he came up with the idea of putting ‘dachshund’ sausages into rolls to warm up fans at his baseball concession in New York. Who would’ve known that!
