Creating Magical Moments

While selling groceries is what we do, striving to create magical moments for each other and our customers is why we do it. Our customers also create magical moments for us.

A story from our Downtown Minneapolis store is incredibly touching and illustrates the mutually beneficial connections we treasure with our customers. Nancy was approaching her 95th birthday and her two daughters, both from out of state, knew Nancy would like nothing more than to celebrate the occasion with her friends at Lunds & Byerlys since she looked forward to her visits to the store most in her daily routine. So, they reached out to arrange a surprise birthday party. Our team was so touched by this kind request. They showered Nancy with birthday wishes, sang “Happy Birthday,” and enjoyed cake and cider together. Making this moment even more meaningful in retrospect is that it was Nancy’s last visit to the store as she passed away a short time later. In her final weeks, Nancy’s daughters frequently visited the store to shop and provide updates. They also became part of the store’s family.

“Every time we would go to the store, it was never a quick visit,” said Nancy’s daughter Eliza. “Much of our time was spent connecting with the wonderful store staff. It was a true love story.”

While we’re grateful to have had the opportunity to make such a profound impact, the reality is Nancy and her family created magical moments for our store team as well.

“Nancy was always our day-maker and put a smile on our faces when she made her way through each department,” said Alex Brage, operations manager at our Downtown Minneapolis store. “It’s moments like these, and customers like Nancy, that put the meaning behind the work we do and remind me of the impact Lunds & Byerlys has on the communities we serve.”

I am continuously amazed and inspired by our L&B family and their shared mission of providing a sensational shopping experience. You have our assurance we will continue to focus on creating magical moments for those we are fortunate enough to work with and serve.

On behalf of our L&B family, thank you for shopping with us. And, as always, we hope you continue to enjoy Real Food.

Sincerely,

Tres Lund president and ceo
