CASTEJÓN RESIDENTIAL PROJECT IN QUITO ECUADOR

SITE ARCHITECT: PRODISEÑO ARQ.

As a site architect in Quito, Ecuador, my job was to work closely with engineers and construction workers to ensure the successful implementation of architectural plans. I was responsible for creating accurate as-built plans, documenting any changes made during construction. Additionally, I provided support to the senior site architect by coordinating architectural activities, reviewing design drawings, and ensuring compliance with building codes. Working on-site allowed me to address architectural challenges promptly and collaborate effectively with the construction team. Overall, my role required a strong understanding of architectural principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively.

The .net lighting installation was located in the Parc Central del Poblenou, a park with abundant trees in which large metal structures developed by the offices b720 and Jean Nouvel are submerged. The installation is adapted to and respectfully embraces the nature of the existing structure, which will serve as the site for the installations. The project is therefore inserted underneath the pre-existence, hanging from it.

For the assembly of the structure and the necessary fabrics, no special tools were required, other than a basic tool kit that included: spanners, pipe spanners, among other tools of daily use. In addition, in order to reach the structure, we will use extendable ladders provided by the university itself.

The mesh was anchored by means of metal tensors and 1mm diameter steel cable. The mesh was fixed by means of 1mm diameter steel cables, plastic flanges and metallic flanges around the existing structure previously protected with rubber. The circular substructure that supported the mesh was anchored to the existing structure with duly protected gripping straps.
