Happy August, La Jolla!

AUGUST 2017 PUBLISHER

I

t is summer in America's Finest City and we are lucky to have beautiful, inspiring weather all year long. Marine Layer or not, the landscapes, vistas and waves in La Jolla make for wonderful subjects for artists and musicians, and inspiration for dancers, actors and performers. We are fortunate to have a culturally rich community that is as diverse as it is generous.

One of the things that struck me about La Jolla is the accessibility to art. We have amazing public art with the Murals of La Jolla. We are also lucky to have the Athenaeum, Playhouse, Music Society, Symphony at Salk Institute and Stuart Collection. There are many artists living among us, a few of whom we highlight in this issue. You may be familiar with them or perhaps this is your introduction to a new artist. We also get a glimpse into Erika Torri's favorite things. She is the Executive Director of Athenaeum - a true gem in our community with amazing resources. And, of course, we all love tacos. Take a look to see if we included your favorite taco in this round up of ours. We would love to hear about your favorite artists so please reach out to us and let us know which artwork inspires you. And remember to visit our Lifestyle Calendar for all the fun events in the community all month long and after.

KAMINSKIY DESIGN AND REMODELING PRESENTS ON AGING IN PLACE The team at Kaminskiy Design and Remodeling presented on the topic of ‘Aging in Place’, as special guest speakers invited by John Preston of Preston Estate Planning for their quarterly seminar. Some of the highlights addressed by the Kaminskiy Design and Remodeling team included preparing for the future by adding rails and ramps around the home, and widening hallways for walkers/wheelchairs. These options provide the individual with the alternative to moving to an assisted living facility. Staying in the comfort of one’s home, in which memories were built, is a much cheaper solution down the
