ABOUT DOLLY, CHANEL AND LINTON TWEED About Linton Tweeds ®
Couture novelty woven fabrics for ladieswear Linton's have been designers and manufacturers of innovative fabrics for the fashion industry since 1912 and are renowned as the original Chanel fabric makers and since 2013 also the supplier of Le Petit Tom ® for their prestigious LA DOLLY collection. Linton Tweeds fabrics are of the highest quality. They are textured, novelty woven fabrics made with virtually all yarn types and weaving techniques. Unique fancy yarns sourced from all over the world are combined to produce sumptuous, elegant fancy tweeds suitable for ladies jackets, skirts and coats. Linton Tweeds has been manufacturing tweed fabric since 1912 when Scotsman William Linton started the mill in the Caldewgate area of Carlisle, a small city situated close to the Scottish border and near the famous Lake District in the United Kingdom. William Linton’s great friend, Captain Molyneux, was a Parisian couturier who in the 1920ʹ′s introduced him to a dynamic young lady called Coco Chanel. This began an association which has flourished over the years resulting in the house of Chanel being Linton’s biggest and most prestigious customer. Since then Linton’s has supplied the houses of Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, John Rocha, Victoria Beckham and Thakoon worn by Michelle Obama. Linton is since 2013 also the supplier of Le Petit Tom ® for their prestigious LA DOLLY collection.

DOLLY AND LE CASTELET About LE CASTELET location and Cinema related history
The LA DOLLY Tweed collection was partly photographed in a beautiful bastide located in the Côte D’azur called ‘Le Castelet. It is known that the 24 year old Brigitte Bardot came to stay and love to swim in the pool at Le Castelet in the spring of 1958. Some 200 meters further up the road lived well-known French actor Jean Marais in the 1950s. He told his at the time extremely popular actress friend Brigitte Bardot about a house being for sale in the spring of 1958 – Le Castelet. Just recently divorced from director Roger Vadim, the 24 year old Bardot came to stay at Le Castelet in the spring of 1958 to the enjoyment of many young boys in the village, many of them still today connecting Le Castelet with Brigitte Bardot. One neighbour has told that many a young man climbed the trees and walls along the alley to get a glimpse of the film star by the pool. It is said that she was on the verge of buying the bastide, but that her mother, on a visit to St Tropez, found a less expensive property with “foot in the the sea” which Bardot later bought.....
