En cuanto a la policía, Rhonda sabe que muchas personas sienten que han sido atacadas, pero opina que si hacemos lo correcto, no vamos a tener problemas. La ciudad, principalmente el Alcalde y Rhonda, trajeron al consulado mexicano, y lo que muchos quizás no saben es que la policía honra las matrículas consulares. Rhonda personalmente viajó a México a buscar un verificador de código, y la policía de North Charleston reconoce esto. Nuestra concejal pide a la población que no ande con documentos falsos. La principal razón por la cual se hizo todo esto es para evitar el abuso a muchas personas en la comunidad hispana que estaban pagando miles de dólares por papeles falsos. La matrícula consular legalmente otorgada por el Consulado Mexicano es reconocida por la policía. Es mucho mejor ser honesto ante un policía que ser deshonesto. El mensaje más importante que Rhonda quiere dejar a la comunidad hispana es que debemos integrarnos e ir a las reuniones comunitarias. El pueblo suele exigir a sus líderes pero hay que trabajar en conjunto. Por otro lado es necesario un concejal hispano que sea la voz, alguien que esté dispuesto a dedicar tiempo, sinceridad y humildad, no para recibir beneficios sino para ayudar a la comunidad. Si queremos lograr respeto e integración es hora de que se escuchen nuestras voces.
As for the police, Rhonda knows that many people feel they have been attacked, but also believes that if we do the right thing, we will not have problems. The city, especially the Mayor and Rhonda, brought the Mexican consulate, and what many may not know is that the police honor the Matricula Consular (consular IDS). Rhonda personally traveled to Mexico to find a barcode scanner, and police in North Charleston recognize this. Our councilwoman asks not to use false documents. The main reason was to prevent abuse to many people in the Hispanic community who have been paying thousands of dollars for fake papers. The Matricula Consular , legally issued by the Mexican Consulate is recognized by the police. It is much better to be honest to a policeman than to be dishonest. The most important message that Rhonda wants to leave to the Hispanic community is that we should integrate ourselves and go to community meetings. The people tend to demand a lot from their leaders but we all must work together. On the other hand it is necessary for a Hispanic councilperson to be the voice of the community, someone who is willing to devote time, sincerity and humility, not for profit but to help the community. If we want to achieve respect and integration, it’s time for our voices to be heard.
