Known as Colombia's "Golden Gate" due to its strategic location as a shipping port, Barranquilla has taken a giant step forward in solidifying its land assets as well. Serving Colombia and the Caribbean, the complex of nearly a million square feet on the Magdelana River will hold its first events in January 2015, although construction will continue through 2016 as the Convention Center and Business Center are completed.
