La varietà ancora più diffusa è l'Italia con il 41% e 5.740.000 quintali, segue la Victoria con il 15% e 2.100.000 quintali. Quest'ultima in pochi anni si è estesa notevolmente, tanto da sostituire quasi totalmente tutte le varietà che in precedenza erano coltivate per anticipare la maturazione in strutture protette con plastica: tra queste la Cardinal, Regina dei Vigneti, Primus, Matilde ecc. Notevolmente ridotta la superficie utilizzata per la cultivar Regina bianca da cui si ottengono 420.000 quintali e il 3% della produzione nazionale. L'areale di Grottaglie, in provincia di Taranto rimane ancora la zona preferita per questa varietà. Rispetto all'ultimo censimento è aumentata significativamente la superficie utilizzata per la coltivazione della Sugraone, che è passata dallo 0,6 all' 8% con 1.120.000 quintali. Dalla Black Magic, non presente in passato, si ottengono 420.000 quintali e il 3% della produzione italiana. Novità interessante è la Crimson seedless con 700.000 quintali di uva senza semi. Tra le più antiche cultivar apirene coltivate in Italia vi è la Thompson seedless ma non altrettanto coltivata: i nostri viticoltori hanno poca pazienza nell'attuare le sofisticate tecniche di coltivazione e in particolare l'impiego dell'acido giberellico per diradare chimicamente il grappolo e farlo sviluppare insieme alle bacche. La Cardinal, è coltivata ancora in alcuni vigneti dell'Abruzzo e della Sicilia per ottenere produzioni precocissime. The most popular variety is the one called “Italia” with 41% and 5,740,000 tons. The “Victoria” variety follows with 15% and 2,100,000 tons. Within the last few years the production of this last variety has notably increased due to its anticipated maturation, enough to substitute almost all of the other varieties which could produce precocious grapes in structures protected with plastic. Among these are the following varieties: Cardinal, Regina dei Vigneti, Primus, Matilde etc. The production of the variety called “Regina Bianca” has been notably reduced to 420,000 tons of grapes representing 3% of the national production . The territory of Grottaglie in the province of Taranto still remains the best zone for these types of grapes. Statistics show the production of the variety called “Sugraone” has risen from 0,6% to 8% with 1,120,000 tons. An average of 420,000 tons of grapes, 3% of the national production, are obtained from the variety “Black Magi” which was not present in the past. An interesting novelty is the Crimson type grape which is seedless and produces around 700,000 tons of seedless grapes. Amongst some of the most antique seedless cultivations is the Thompson variety which is not highly cultivated: our cultivators have little patience when putting into practice the right techniques of cultivations, especially the use of the giberellico acid to chemically thin out the cluster and make it develop along with the grapes. The Cardinal variety is still cultivated in vineyards in the region of Abruzzo and Sicily in order to obtain very precocious productions of grapes.
