Suzette Caldwell Recently Shared These Powerful Words of Wisdom

Yadira Banuelos attended Tijerina and J.P. Henderson Elementary and Jackson Middle schools before coming to Austin. She serves as president of the National Honor Society, president of the senior class, and secretary of Interact (a service club affiliated with Rotary International). Banuelos has also been active on the debate team.

Honor Society, and the Hindi National Honor Society. Prasad is also active in the Debate Club and the Astronomy Club. He lists his favorite subject as calculus. Prasad is an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction and a National Merit Commended Scholar who has been recognized at the regional, state, and national levels for his performance in French language competitions. In his spare time, he enjoys playing the guitar, drums, and piano. Prasad attended T.H. Rogers before enrolling at Bellaire.

Dayne Beronque attended Briarmeadow Elementary and a middle school in Alvin ISD before coming to Austin. He plans to attend the University of Texas, where he will pursue a degree in pharmacology. Beronque is a member of the soccer and football teams. He is also active in the National Honor Society.

Sophia Cen is a member of the debate team, the Red Cross Club, and Business Professionals of America. She attended Askew Elementary School and T.H. Rogers before coming to Bellaire, and she hopes to pursue a degree in business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Nakiyah Scott plans to attend the University of Virginia and pursue a degree in chemical engineering. She has been active in her school’s National Honor Society and serves as captain of the drill team and vice president of Mademoiselles (a service organization). She lists her favorite subjects as social studies and calculus.

He has served as president of the National Honor Society, president of the Mexican American Engineering Society, and project manager of the Rocketry Club. Ortiz has also been active in FIRST Robotics competitions. Ortiz plans to attend Texas A&M University, where he will pursue a degree in aerospace engineering using the Elliot-Chandler Foundation and Century Scholarships he has received. He lists his favorite subjects as Advanced Placement calculus and English literature. In his spare time, Ortiz enjoys jogging, strumming the guitar, and learning to play new instruments.

Key 2015 HISD District Races

here will be four Houston ISD Board Members on the Tuesday, November 3, 2015 General Election ballot. However, we’re not sure at this time how many of the trusees will draw challengers. Rhonda Skillern-Jones, the trustee for District 2; Manuel Rodriguez, Jr., the trustee for District 3; Paula Harris, the trustee for District 4, and Juliet Stipeche, the trustee for District 8; are the current HISD sitting incumbents who will be on the ballot on Tues., Nov. 3rd. Trustee Rhonda Skillern-Jones (District II) has drawn an opponent already. So has Trustee Paula Harris (District IV) -- and we’re still months away from early voting, which begins on Monday, October 19, 2015 and DARLENE SKILLERNends on Friday, October 30, 2015. JONES

In the race for HISD Trustee – District 2, incumbent Rhonda Skillern-Jones is being challenged by Darlene “Koffey” Smith.
