At BASIS Texas schools, young students are taught a passion for learning that stays with them throughout their education. A combination of exceptional teachers, student-driven learning, and unparalleled academic support prepares students for the challenges of college, the working world and beyond.

While many primary schools place two teachers per classroom, the BASIS charter school two-teacher model is unique. In our model, one teacher is a Subject Expert Teacher (SET), and one is a Learning Expert Teacher (LET). The SET is just that: a teacher with a minimum four-year degree in their respective area of expertise, while a LET usually has a degree in education or early childhood education. So imagine that your first grade student is learning math from a teacher with a mathematics degree, while your second grade student’s Language Arts class is taught by a teacher with an advanced English degree. These educators, who are both passionate and experienced in their fields, create a powerful learning environment. Our educational model includes: accelerated liberal arts, math, and science studies, as well as an introduction to subjects like Mandarin Chinese and engineering in Kindergarten. One of the most unique aspects of the BASIS Curriculum is the Connections course; it ties multiple subjects together to help students see the links between academic subjects and real world issues.

BASIS students are given an opportunity to be themselves, to let their true spirits and passions fly, and are given the best environment to do so.
