MOVING FROM CHALLENGES TO SUCCESS

Sometimes plans change. In my household, the year 2020 was supposed to be filled with senior activities. My youngest son, Cullen, and our exchange student, Jhosue, had their calendars filled with final senior choir concerts, prom, senior walkout, and senior week activities culminating with graduation in May. The COVID-19 pandemic changed those plans.

As the world retreated into their homes and businesses looked for ways to stay profitable, our students and teachers had to adapt to new ways of learning and teaching. At first, our seniors showed a range of emotions, from sadness to anger. Our seniors’ strength, determination, and courage were tested yet they rose to the challenge. Our seniors have shown us what it means to be resilient. They have shown us that resilience is not about bouncing back, but about moving forward.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined. - Thoreau

As business leaders, we can learn from our seniors. What are you doing to move forward in this new environment? How can the Chamber help you navigate through these changing times?

Seniors, you are graduating in extraordinary times. Please carry your passion, drive, and resilience forward. These will keep you strong, alive, and aware. Have faith that you will make this world a better, more compassionate place. Use your skills and talents to move mountains. Congratulations Class of 2020!
