ST. LOUIS COLOMBIAN SOCIETY

Following his thought, the soul of the St. Louis region is waking up due to changing times and the rising of social consciousness. One of the organizations that is leading this stirring is the St. Louis Colombian Society.

The group, led by Sandra Liliana Henao, is a non-for-profit organization seeking to promote various art forms, family values and higher education, which are so intrinsic to the Colombian culture. The St. Louis Colombian Society also provides resources and information for families and individuals in need.

For the last few years, the Society has organized important social events and participated in advocacy groups that have united the growing Latin community in the St. Louis area.

The fact that the Latin community has been the fastest growing population segment in the US since 2010 makes the role of this organization that much more important.

For 2023, the group is coordinating many activities and sponsoring a membership breakfast (March 25th) and a Summer Picnic (July 16), as well as participating in some of the local Festivals in the Fall. Its annual fundraiser gala (December 9) has been a remarkable event in the area for a few years now. The funds raised by the Society provide scholarships for college students with the hope of encouraging future professionals to continue to invest in the development of our region.

The needs of the St. Louis community are great and by collaborating with other local organizations; the St. Louis Colombian Society seeks to awaken the soul of this region so it can perhaps become an example of progress in the Midwest and across the nation.
